You guys have a chain or a strap on your bass drum pedal? I've always been a strap guy myself. They're a bit smoother.

Chain...I've had some trouble with straps...but hey, with calves like these, SHEEEZ!

chains.....i thnk they allow me to feel how the pedal is actually moving better...which translates into, not as smooth but that's what i like cuz i like to feel every little thing that my pedal does....

Some of the companies are putting chain on a felt drive shaft, which kind of gives you the best of both worlds. So it goes around a sproket but tends to glide better being that it's guided through this felted channel.

Yea...my Pearl pedal is just that. The chain rests on a felt lined shaft. I got it in 1985, and it has never given me a bit of trouble. Very smooth, and obviously very durable.

the iron cobra is the doggie danglers ....i played one on an in house kit ....just plain awesome ....don`t know if i`d bother with the all shiny crome version though. you`ld have to play it bare foot to keep it shiny .but hey if you got the $$$ why not i say

by the way i`ve got the same pedal as Boo too (mines a `94 version though)

my friend dain broke a chain cause he left it in the rain and it caused him much grief and pain so he went to the store and got some sugar cane but tripped on the way out and hurt his leg so he had to use a cain and then when he tryed to think of a solution to his broken chain he gave up beacuse thinking hurt his brain so instead he went out with his friends jane and shane and when he came home he found that his dog had been slain and it caused him to go insane....The End

Those Axis pedals are awesome!! I love the longboard cuz' it is soooo much easier to do the heel-toe method with them. The only thing I don't like is that they just look like you could break them pretty easy. Never heard of anyone doing it, but it still bugs me.

check out the songs that are on myspace.com/theutopianthree...i didn't write them completely but i had a big hand in writing them...musically and lyrically...i don't have anything recorded yet of stuff that only i've written...i do alot of acoustical writing and then like the polar extreme (ie. Heavy Metal)..:) if i record something i'll put it up on myspace for you to hear....

I'm with those who have said chain because that's all they've ever played. I am not far enough along to worry about how smooth my pedal needs to be. I have the DW 8002 double pedal, and it is the smoothest pedal I have tried, so I am one happy camper with a chain drive pedal.

Ya, I'm with PB. All I look for in a bass pedal is that the spring doesn't fall off when I use it.

by stronger do you meen durable? because strap is way more durable than chain...chain can snap any time...anyway i play a double chain drive iron cobra powerglide!!! brilliant...i was really looking forward though for the flexi glide!!

I've only ever used chain drive, so I vote chain.

However, I do like the look of direct drive.

Other than my Pearl Eliminators (and ancient Rogers pedals) all had chains. I never purchased a pedal based on strap or chain but really like the Pearls. My DW and TAMA pedals are both chains so I guess unless I see the pedal, I may not even know if it's chain or strap.

Lesizmor

Both. I have a Yamaha Flying dragon that you can switch between either.

My Pearl eliminator was a strap drive.

now i think the question is double chain or single chain? and i have the same pedal model (yamaha fp-715) on my electic and acoustic on the acosutic its single chain on the electric its strap . my soon-to-be-mine doulbe pedal (yamaha 9315 double pedal) will have double chain and strap drive which i can use either.

Well i have a good ol' fasioned Tama single pedal, but I want a double pedal. Either an Ax or IC. :dontknow:

I have both! a strap for my single pedal, and chains for my hats.

hahaha...what a mongrel I am! :icon_mrgreen:

...but if I had the luxury to choose. I'd go with the chain versions. Maybe because somehow...I'm led to believe that the strap versions (just talking about the Pearl Eliminators) stretch out after awhile. [Yes! I know! don't ask me how I ended up with a Eliminator Strap drive...instead of a chain! hehehe]

My first peddle back in the stone age had a steel arm for the link foot to beater. I tried a lot of different things when it broke at last straw I cut a old snowmobile clutch drive belt and used the thread side left a thin layer of rubber on it and that would last a long time.

Then finally after years I bought a new peddle that had a strap same idea as the snowmobile strap I made but much much thicker. Never had a problem with it. The set I'm using now has a chain haven't had to fix it yet...

I Miss My Old Rogers "Swivo-Matic" Pedals Ever So Much....
The Strap Gave Me A Natural Feel & Pull.....Chains Are Nice
But....I Believe I Still Wanna Go Back To Straps....

I have an older DW 5000 double pedal with the single chain.
Works just fine, is nice and smooth but i know there are way nicer pedals available.
i went to Trick drums.com and they have some freakin space age looking pedals.
The Pro V pedal could be my next one. check em out...
