I play drums ( both kit and hand drums) , guitar, bass, and piano. Drums are the most fun cuz' I can take a lot of pent up aggression out on them.

I surprised a few people this morning--including myself!
While waiting to start our 10:30 guitar group Mass this morning, one of the guitarists began rehearsing a song on the keyboards (this guy actually can play pretty well). Another guitarist (who doubles on bass) looked at me and said, "Let's see if you can play bass." I know just enough about playin' bass to get me into trouble, but I figured out the notes for the song that was being played and started following along. And if that wasn't enough, the keyboard guy sat down behind my congas and bongos and began playing (more time-keeping than what I would play), but the funny thing was it didn't sound too bad.
When I get tired of playin' the drums, I might just learn the bass! :icon_lol: Come to think of it, if I can learn drums relatively late in life, who knows what could happen if I can be a bass man as well...? But for now I'll just...

I enjoy playing guitar as well as playing drums. I have an acoustic guitar, an electric guitar, and I have an acoustic-electric guitar on the way (so that I can play through the sound system in church).
My main focus, though, is the drums. BTW, I guess I could pick up the clarinet again if I wanted to. I played clarinet for a few years in elementary school.

I play piano, bass, guitar, and trombone, I'm also a half way decent organist, so when I started drumming I was use to using my feet.

How fortunate that you played organ before drumming! I'm still fighting to get independence, by taking the advice of my DrumChat friends - "Start slow, and gradually speed up!"

Ringo, enjoying the creative side of making music does not require anyone to read music. The creative side of making music only requires us to interpret what we hear inside.
It's like the sculpter, when asked how she created such beautiful works from blocks of marble, simply said, "I chip away all the parts that don't look like what I see in my head!"
True musicianship is about learning the basics, so that we can create by playing the things that we hear in our heads.

in other words. play what's on your mind not on the music stand. right?
pastor_bob

Do our best to play what's on the music stand, as we begin, so that we learn the basics. Then play what's in your heart!

i play drums, guitar, bass, keyboard, Irish concert flute, Uilleann pipes, Fyfe, Low Whistle, Tin Whistle, Violin and Jaws Harp... my family are big into the music, and it was pumped into me from a young age. But they don;t appreve of the non-Trad Irish instruments such as the Drums, Guitar and Bass, i had to buy and learn them myself with no support
