Finally, we have done what we had hoped to accomplish months ago.
Our cover of the first half of "Orion" by Metallica is on YouTube. Go and search "zanthaphobia" in the main search page look for one produced by "zanthaphobia".
Sorry I can't get a link to you guys, I'm at school right now and YouTube is blocked, so no link.
THIS IS OUR FIRST VIDEO AND WE DO NOT PRACTICE REGULARLY SO DON'T LAUGH.
Please leave...nice...feedback.

goood quality too which is nice
and IDS is right go crazy like the guitarist, half a bands talent is in the show
Diggin the dreds too or wat i thought were dreds maybe there not
Candlelight Chaos
02-14-2007, 07:36 AM
No they are not dreds, lol but now that you mention it...
Yeah its kinda hard to get into it when your holding back 3000 decibals of pure drum!:icon_mrgreen:
But thanx you guys for your advice and feedback, we'll get somemore on this weekend.
Question: Did you guys think that the Orion By Metallica thing at the begining and the credits were cheesy?
amputechture
02-14-2007, 07:48 AM
no just informative :)
Candlelight Chaos
02-14-2007, 08:02 AM
Okay, we are going to that everytime then, just because I think it looks nice and informative lol:icon_mrgreen:
But now we are limited to what we can only jam to, because we have no singer.
Dale (the guitarist) can sing a little bit, but naturally its going to hinder his playing.
Question #2: Could you hear the bass okay? I think it needed alot more cranking.
amputechture
02-14-2007, 12:13 PM
more cranking
i love songs with more bass, the more bass the better
plus if your guitarist has an ego problem, which of course most do this will bring his ego down
cuz in my experience guitarists always wanna turn bassists down
Candlelight Chaos
02-14-2007, 04:06 PM
No he doesn't have an ego problem, he is trying to keep me from blowing up my camera with a ton of bass.
But its kinda funny...we got a singer and a rhythm guitarist in one day!
Really the rhythm guitarist was kinda iffy( and still is cuz we haven't heard him "jam") and the singer is the old singer from my old band who quit for..wait I don't know why he quit....
Oh well...
Question #3:
Should I get one of those plexi-glass drum shields so I can go crazy but keep the volume down?
Pdplayer
02-14-2007, 06:38 PM
Not bad at all, you can't really go wrong with such a great song, I think I was most impressed with the bassist, you were all really good, but the bassist stood out for me, very cool guys.
Pdplayer
02-14-2007, 06:40 PM
the intro thing, should have something more like your band name playing whatever your playing, like zanthaphobia covering metallica's Orion, get your name out there.
Candlelight Chaos
02-15-2007, 07:38 AM
OMG! Oops I forgot to mention that Zanthaphobia isn't our band name, its just our channel.
I don't know about you but "the fear of Yellow" doesn't sound near as cool as Audiometry.
We are not worried about a name near as much we are worried about getting our skills up and writing our own stuff.
Pdplayer
02-15-2007, 09:45 AM
lol, Cool man it is just good since you are working so hard on your sounds and writing, people should be able to associate that to a name, it is called planting a seed, give them a name, write your awesome songs, and then when you are ready to present those songs, they will recognize your name a say HELL YEA, I am going to go see them, has worked great for us.
Candlelight Chaos
02-15-2007, 04:42 PM
Yeah well that would be easy but..
Mi no habla ingles!
lol
Seriously, we have trying to think of a name forever! And it is making my brain fry! I thought of one once: Overdose
But Dale and Josh(bassist) shot that one down.

The name of Your band reflects alot of what type of music You play,And the overall vibe of the Band.My bands name is "This Tragic Ending"...And we play a unique Post-Hardcore/Emo/Hardcore type of music. So pick a name that will reflect the type of music You play.I mean I have plently of names like Ablissful Ending,Etc...Alot of stuff like that but I don't think thats what Your looking for. Also Don't buy the drum shield,It would be a waste if You are ever going to play live or if the other band members ever get Half stacks....

I'm not a huge fan of the whole emo community, in fact most of the emos I know are sad, stupid, "feel sorry for me", and cut themselves!(which I think is about as sick as you can get besides woman beating) and they (meaning the ones I know) are always complaining about how life sucks for them and their girlfriend of boyfriend broke up with them and they can't get over it and......OMG! It makes me wanna scream at the top of my lungs at them: "GET OVER IT!!"
But that's just me, and again that is only the ones I know and there are good and bad people in every kind of group.
Pdplayer
02-16-2007, 09:07 AM
Candlelight I completely agree, they all need prozac or something, I mean come on, life can be hard at times, but you don't need to dwell on it, and live your life according to the saddest part of it, seriously I hate Emo, Hardcore music, they all sound the same, just a bunch of noise and some dude screaming at the top of his voice, that kind of music in my opinion displays ZERO talent and no creative appeal whatsoever, anybody can pick up an instrument and bang, scream and yell and call it emo or hardcore, ANYBODY.
But like candlelight chaos said " But that's just me, and again that is only the ones I know and there are good and bad people in every kind of group", but mainly just emo, and hardcore.

02-16-2007, 09:12 AM
Lol, well all of my ex-girlsfriends have been, are, or are going emo. So I guess it is just a curse.
I don't hate emos I just hate the whinny ones. I know one cool emo, and he barely qualifies as emo in the first place!

Emos are stupid besides the happy ones
Haha... That doesn't even qualify them to be emo's. They're just sheep and following the trend. In fact, those are probably worse than the sad, depressed emos.
At least the sad emos aren't sellouts to pop culture.

02-18-2007, 01:44 PM
Well guys, I'm sorry but I can't get anything on this weekend, It will have to wait until next weekend. First our temporary vocalist was a no-show (meaning he said he would be there and then he said he could and didn't, like he always does) and then my camera got wet for reasons unknown, and its not working.
But on a brighter note, our rhythm guitarist might actually make the cut!

hellsbells58
02-26-2007, 06:14 PM
Hehe, country music is more like a note and then a chord and then another note and a different chord. It gets hella repetitive, but it's done so that the attention is focused on the lyrics to stop people going insane.
As for the lyrics of country, most of the time its about leading a hard knock life, but you end up getting through the day. Emo is about making yourself believe you lead a hard knock life, but don't tend to seek any resolution for your problems and just stay in a big spiral of depression.

In the words of Ray Charles!
"I like country music becuase of the stories they tell, they just good stories."
R.I.P. Ray Charles Robinson
And as for my toms, I didn't tune them for a video, I tuned them for 120 watts of guitar, 60 watts of bass, and 25 watts of rhythm guitar. That way I have a clean and audible tom sound with my bandmates playing at full capacity.

Being Emo has NOTHING to do with Emo/Hardcore music.Emo=Emotional.ALL MUSIC IS EMOTIONAL! So don't just say that You hate emo music because technically all music is emo.I KNOW that You were talking about me when You said You hated emo people and emo music. You could atleast listen before You say You hate it...

Pdplayer
02-27-2007, 03:48 PM
ALL music is not EMO, far from it, emo is dark, depressing, no talent music, how can you even say that all music is technically EMO, are you nuts, you obviously have no idea what true music is, I know for a fact the blues, jazz, rock, funk, or metal HAS NOTHING to do with emo, sorry man but you are very wrong.
in ALL the emo bands I have heard, there has not been one that I liked, the music is horrible, the vocals are completely annoying, and in MOST CASES the lyrical content is very sad and depressing, who really wants to listen to that crap, I mean what do you really get from EMO, honestly?
SabianDrummerNC
02-27-2007, 05:33 PM
All music has Emotion in it so there for it's emo.Not all EMO is depressing...There's PLENTLY of happy songs that are played by a band under a Emo genre.A few of our Songs are sad/depressing but they are about Break up's,Etc...But for the most part,Our music isn't all sad/depressing...
amputechture
02-27-2007, 05:47 PM
ya but just because music has emotion doesn't mean it is the emotion emo style music refers to.
Take it this way, Emo=emotional, the emotional part in emo is like the sad depressing emotions you go through during a thing such as a breakup or death or something, that's the emotion emo refers too, I think we can all agree that all music has emotion but not that kind.
And yes not all emo songs are depressing but it is the same kind of music style still, whiny vox, whiny guitar, whiny crap, whether it be depressing or upbeat, still the same style. The lyrics are a part of what makes the emo genre they're only a contributer to it though not the whole thing. Another thing I'm not bashing emo, becuase I listen to some "emo" classified bands, such as:
Coheed and Cambria
Anberlin
ect.
But look at the original emo bands like Fall Out Boy, they're new CD isn't friggen emo it's like Dance/Pop/Boy band music. Emo music is just like grunge originally it did have some form of identity, but now it's just falling away. In the next ten years emo will be gone, because it covers such a wide range of music, from dance Fall Out Boy, to Alternative Coheed and Cambria to like sad depressing scene bands.
In closing emo does have it's good points but it's not the lyrics that classify it as emo, just because a band writes about a break up doesn't instantly make them an emo band. It's a compilation of the music sound and lyrics and dress/clothes. But like I said the genre will be abolished in the near future anyways, just like grunge, hair metal, and good ol' classic rock.

hellsbells58
02-27-2007, 06:34 PM
I KNOW that You were talking about me when You said You hated emo people and emo music.
That's a bit of a jump to a conclusion, isn't it?
Yes, all music contains emotion, but the label "emo" is stuck on bands that have a particular focus on depression and the melancholy.
Actually, the term Emo came originally from Emotional Hardcore i.e. originally a punk genre with emotional lyrics. If you look at Hardcore, it's usually more focused on the music than the lyrics (i.e. the music will be good, but no-one will care what the singer sounds like e.g. HORSE the Band). Thus, emo has become a sad derivative of Punk and Hardcore.
Since then, it's spawned innumerous bands trying to capatilize on the current trend (Bright Eyes, James Blunt, My Chemical Romance etc etc.) and even changed some band's images to increase their sales (remember Green Day, they used to be Punk, and they used to be good).
As Amp pointed out, this "genre" won't be around in about 10 years. It's just a fad that will die out as soon as MTV finds the next flavour of the month, and teenagers instantly adopt it. I have a feeling its going to become awful pop-rap myself. You know, the ones where rappers rap about useless topics like Red Hair or whatever (Think Sean Desmond and Massari) instead of trying to be gangsta.

1. No-one on Drumchat hates you.
2. You aren't on anyone's bad side.
3. You voiced your opinion, and so did we.
4. I do give all types of music a chance, but that doesn't mean I'm going to instantly take to a band in a genre. It needs to impress me.
5. I don't believe I ever said "I hate your music because it's classified as Emo".
Next, I'll whole-heartedly agree with ddrumbum. That the best part of your music is you. However, I'll deviate from his opinion slightly. If you are happy playing what you are playing, then by all means play it. I mean, when I tell people that I play metal and they don't like it, I don't care what they think. I'm doing it because I love it and it challenges me, not because people want me to and definately not for the money.
That being said, if you are just playing the music for the money, and the popularity, I think you have the wrong idea about music.
