I've been with these guys for a while even if we just had band practice for the first time last week. Well all of us im their first real drummer, thats here to stay. But anyway they definatly not used to keeping tempo where it needs to be, or following a drummers tempo. So it sounded pretty bad i tried getting it in the pocket but it was in vain. Any advice on how to keep them at the right tempo would be greatly apprecited. Thanx.

Always play at your tempo, as long as its right. They will slow down first.

If you can sense speeding up, just make sure you stay steady and don't get caught up with everything else that's happening.

I hate that, my band members always slow down too, its so annoying. And then they blame me. So i set up a metronome and there like oh jeez...
Try that, bring a metronome to preactices and show them who's right.

im pretty sure that i was at the right tempo thats never really been a problem for me unless what im playing is really complicated or was and the song we were writing was neither of the two i guess they just need to get used to playing together at the same time but they've played together long before i came along and i thought i might be too outside but maybe it is me
