Re: DW Performance Series Drum Kit Review
I am curious. I saw a kit on eBay. Gun metal glass glitter. I don't see it offered at any stores. Wonder why the finishes other than the aforementioned are so basic. I'm looking for a new kit, can't decide on performance, PDP platinum or concept. Thanks

Re: DW Performance Series Drum Kit Review
Machine Drum, I want low-end sound with sturdy hardware and solid shells, that's what I want from a kit

TAMA Starclassics B/B or
Pearl MCX.
Both shell packs have great low end and make their own beast-like hardware that doesn't weigh 400 pounds a stand. :icon_lol:

I think if you want low end sound, DW fast sizes wouldnt be the best. Don't get me wrong, I love my FAST toms, but man, a 13x16 just doesn't compare to a 16x16

Re: DW Performance Series Drum Kit Review
Think I'm stuck between Pacific Platinum and Pearl Masters. Thanks for the help!

Re: DW Performance Series Drum Kit Review
I forgot to add I had a Starclassic kit and loved the hardware and the snare and bass. Couldnt get the toms the way I like them, even after going from EC1 to Ec2 to emperors...

If you go to the DW website and go to the performance series it shows available colors occasionally a dealer will get a finish that isn't in the main line for example memphis drum shop has pink Cadillac kit right now

Re: DW Performance Series Drum Kit Review
areFish;
Excellent review! I started playing Leedy back in '64, then in 1998 bought a 7 piece set of Pdp in Laser Blue (just for the color!) My next set will be a DW Performance Series in 'Titanium Sparkle' (once again, cause I like the color!) Hopefully, I'll have these around Christmas.
Never tuned any other way than by ear, but thanks for sharing your settings.
Peace

My local indie drum shop said the Design series is one of the best moves DW has made since its introduction. It's an incredible deal and some say the Design series gives the Performance line a "run for the money".

I don't understand your comment. It seems to me that both of you are talking up the Design series. Did I miss something?

No bish.. not saying that anyone did.. BUT since the design is a lower cost unit it seems people have written it off as garbage. But i was just shocked that the few times i have mentioned it on various forums that people agree'd with me when i had expected the opposite reaction.. Wasn't a shot at anyone or anything just an observation.
