EC's as Reso?
Would this be wise? I was thinking of doing G2's for my batters and EC's for my resos, not sure to go with 1 ply, 2 ply, or just a different head. I want more openness over the muffled tones I've gotten without tightening my resos all the way, so I thought EC's would be a good way to go. Any suggestions?

Don't see why not. The G1 is a 10 mil head, as is the Remo Ambassador, and they're used as resonant heads. If you're really wanting more openness, I would suggest a 7.5 mil Remo Diplomat. That would really give you an open sound.
BTW, I just happened to notice that the Remo Emperor is a 7 mil head, so that would create even more openness as a reso.

even the 1 ply ec is 14mil.thick. i dont think it would make for a good reso head. if you are partial to evans i would recomend the clear g1.

Oops, for some reason I forgot this was about an EC as reso! I was thinking about the G1. Yeah, don't go EC as reso if you want openness. Sorry about the brain fade!

yeah 32nd, i was thinking of doing that same thing.. i have EC2's for batter

Thanks for the feedback guys. I think I'm gonna go with the G1's, I've heard alot of good stuff about them as resonant heads from professional drummers.

how would EC clear 1 ply sound as a reso with EC2 batter?

see my previous post in this thread lafirin.

I think EC's for batters and resos would sound too muffled for my taste. Maybe for a good studio kit, but not my gigging set.
