    Re: 2017 Solar Eclipse

I absolutely love astronomy. One day I'll see the haley's comet. It'll be around 60 years from now, but it's worth the wait. I remember watching Venus pass the sun in 2012. It took a pair of welding...

    Re: Scratched brilliant finish cymbals

I've been emailing back and forth with Sabian. Long story short, they're giving me a warranty. Very nice customer service and fast replies. One of the many reasons why I'll always be with Sabian.

Man that's awesome! I wonder what the pawn shop bought them for in the first place. Very nice wrap.

Re: Trying to sound like John Bonham

Pretty close. You have the pitch perfect. There's just something about his sound that's different. Listen to his snare at around 0:11. The best snare sound ever.

    Re: Scratched brilliant finish cymbals

Update: here's after a heavy cleaning with the grooves of the cymbal. Way better but you can definitely still see the scratches.

Exactly what I thought. It really does look like there's a wood shell on the inside. Pretty cool

    Re: Set up issues

Thanks Rich! some think flat toms are impossible to play on. I love them like that. I just have the sliiightest angle.

    Re: Set up issues

Sometimes I'll mount the 10" splash off the hats with a boom clamp, and leave the 8" with the stand home. Other than that, my setup doesn't change. The right crash, china and floor tom are all...

I emailed Sabian. I already know they won't do anything about it but it's worth a shot I guess.

    Re: Scratched brilliant finish cymbals

I'll definitely check it out. I don't like this cream stuff all the big brand cymbal companies put out. Did you ever get rid of the scratches on that K?

    Re: Scratched brilliant finish cymbals

Thanks a lot for those tips Rich. Late last night I used a different cloth. A yellow microfibre one. I went with the grooves, and it did make the scratches a lot less noticeable. I'm not using this...
  22. Re: Getting a lot of "bounce back" from my bass drum beater -- what helps with this?

Beater angle is a big factor, the farther back you have it, the faster the beater will want to go back when you hit the kick.

Re: Couple of nice scores to add :)

Nice haul! I've always loved the vertical and horizontal wood pattern on snares. I played one of those xs20 rides quite a while ago. Very nice cymbals for the price. Only thing it lacks is the bell.
