This changes my opinion. If he is not pocketing any cash, AND you will get proper credit in any listings (rather than crediting just Vinny) then I would be tempted to do it. This assumes you are not...

This Meinl bag is really well made and goes for 20 bucks surprisingly. I toss mine around and am not careful with it and it's held up very well.

I'm sure my personal/money situation is different than yours...
I agree with all of your personal reasons for wanting to do this project and think that it's a great opportunity to get some...
That depends on the price of upgrade I think. The oak drums will likely sound better, but by how much?
So is Bum Wrap the smart way to go for this? I have done some investigation, and that was my conclusion, but I've never done this myself. I'm liking that "no glue" option as well...
Crap - I'm sure I replied to everyone, but it seems to be gone and I can't remember everything I said.
My plan is to take this drum into Columbus Percussion the next time I am in that area. If...
Sorry - I know I replied to this, but it appears I have lost it due to the upgrade problem. Hopefully you saw that, it was lengthy...
Agreed. I do like the sound of new Kevlar heads over the Powerstoke plastic ones with a full line of players, even though plastic sounds great for solo stuff. Sadly, most band directors can't tell...
Thanks Jim! Everything is indeed well with me. Good job, great band, decent health, and tolerable students. I'll likely stick with a select few education type threads rather than spending a lot of...
Agreed.
I lived in Columbus for 5 years, and I've been going to the shop once every three months since I moved away 10 years ago, so I'm familiar with how well those guys treat their customers. I've...
The shell. It's a clear acrylic kit, so no lacquer. It's just the start of a small spiderweb crack, maybe 1/8 of an inch around radiating from the floor tom leg mount holes.
Marching snares don't have to sound choked, but most people tune them that way, probably without realizing it. The natural tendency with Kevlar heads and modern drums is to crank them really high all...
Thanks for the replies gentlemen. I was hoping there was some easy, DIY secret to this, but I was guessing there probably was not. I never got to the pricing point with Columbus Percussion because...
Background info...
A friend's dad who was a drummer passed away last year and she had no idea what his stuff was worth. I spent about 10 hours going through this guy's collection of mostly Gretsch...
I've strayed a couple times and bought a couple of Gretsch Catalina kits and a couple Pearl Visions, but I have always returned.
I no longer have either of these, but they were my fist couple of...
This is painful. I think the toms are actually resting on the kick drum.

I wonder if the laundry is included...

I have a local store in my town, but it's very tiny and mostly deals with school band instruments. I'll buy sticks there, and I do send my band students there for rentals and extras. I live 90...
I was a regular poster here several years ago and have decided to pick it up again. I know this is the place to make re-introductions, so here's what I'm playing these days:
Gig Kit - Yamaha Stage...
Thanks for the welcome back! I actually went through your entire PDP X7 thread the other day. Impressive! In my side band, I play congas and timbales and the drummer has that same kit in the same...
Sorry - I am just now able to reply. For some reason I was still on newby probation even though I was able to start this thread. Weird. Anyway...My love affair with Crush ended badly. After getting a...
I've never had any actual problems with the mounts on the drums, but they do concern me on any drum 14 or bigger. I do agree about the screw that holds the ball mount - they all eventually strip....
I had a Yamaha Recording Custom 10/12/14/18. I sold it because I hated the color (teal). I ended up with a nice Beech Custom, then sold that for a new Catalina Maple. I wish I had both of those back.
I love my Acrolites, but I have been seriously eyeing that DW Design Series Black Nickle over Brass. It's under $300 and that Mag Throw off is very nice.
I've got Yamaha single braced stands that I've been actively using for 25+ years and they still perform flawlessly. They're scratched up, but still function as intended.
I'm liking the looks of...
