  2. Re: Are Music Stores in Trouble? Retail Sales Flat for Musical Instruments

Nobody can compete with Amazon. Buy today, at front door next. Any product.
That being said, I spoke to an owner of 35 years of a major 5* Pro shop. He is considering locking the door. his reason,...
  3. Re: Buying drums at guitar center a bad idea?

It's expensive for a retailer to stock everything. Even for a GC. Retailers have to purchase gear (from guitar picks to Neal Peart like size kits), just as any consumer. The only difference, they get...

    Re: Decent Jazz ride?

Play Jazz extensively for years....Bosphorus always good, played Agops, Mehmets, Sabians, Keropes. All great in their own style....but seriously made a change to Paiste last year. Now have 602's, and...

    Re: StickTwirl?

Buddy Rich once commented, drummers who are into theatrics, have to make up for their lack of style and playing. He added, '..you can't record twirling on a record'.

    Re: tunebot vs drumdial

I have a digital DD. Brand new, purchased off ebay for half the price of new. Has been a wonderful learning tool. Now I tune without, but occasionally re-check with the DD. I am amazed how 'right on'...

    Paiste 22" FLAT RIDE...Need one.

I am searching for a 22" Paiste flat. Prefer a 602 or Signature Traditional, but would consider other offerings.

    Would trade a vintage 20" 602 or a 21" 602 for a 22" flat OR Both...if what you...

    Re: Decent entry level crashes?

Anything Paiste in their PST series. Also, Paiste 505's, which are rare, but an excellent find. Also, Paiste 2002's, on the ebay/pre-owned market.
NOBODY, does cymbal making with B8 like Paiste....

    Re: 15'' crash/hi hat

I currently use a Paiste PreSn 602 crash, heavy 16" for bottom, and a K-Dark thin 16" crash for top...sounds wonderful.

Looking for a PreSn 602 thin 16" crash to use for top, but hard to find....
  15. Re: Cymbal weights for crash and ride for rock music

Inexpensive, yet, IMO, well worth the money in little out of pocket expense:

Xist by Istanbul/Agop...pure B20 Turkish made and a new 20" ride is about $150

Also, Pst7 by Paiste. B8 alloy, but...

  20. Re: Buying Used from Sam Ash..Anyone Experience this?

It must be a problem when stores expand.

As a teenager in NYC, a drummer enthusiast, I'd visit what was Drummers Row. Several blocks near Times Square that housed the one and only Sam Ash, which...
  21. Re: Buying Used from Sam Ash..Anyone Experience this?

  22. Buying Used from Sam Ash..Anyone Experience this?

I recently came across a Paiste flat ride, no longer made, up for sale on the Sam Ash used site.

Like ALL products on the site, there is no 'cart' or 'buy' button. You have to contact the store...
  23. Re: Pawn shop and Craigslist finds good deal?

I agree. The Music Pawn Shop I mentioned in my above reply, takes your picture and fingerprint when you sell something to them. They keep it on file for a year. This prevents thieves from coming in...

    Re: Cymbals over time

Cymbals are like wine. They get better with age.

I have yet to notice any change in 50years of playing. Not to say, it couldn't happen, but never found it too. They are metal, afterall, and metal...
