Ordered an 8" collectors tom today, the empty tom mount on my double tom holder was lonely.

How do you like playing with that small tom so far to the left?

Love the setup, I have tried doing my kit that way but it just never seems to work for me. Also, don't sell that small tom, you will miss it some day.

just stopping in to make a remark on how amazing my kit sounds. the new DW shells are incredibly better sounding than the old keller models.

No, just the Pewter hardware color is specific to the 40th anniv kit. Probably not something they manufacture aside from using it with the anniv kit.

OOoh, are they new to this year? So far im liking em, no problems, very solid/heavy duty as you would expect from DW hardware.

Its actually black nickel, not the pewter hardware. I asked them about it before, they won't put pewter on anything but the 40th anni kit.

I am so glad I got an 8x12 instead of a 9x12. Fits PERFECTLY over the bass drum, I can get it low enough without worrying its going to hit the kick. Also it sounds wicked good lol

It is a modified tobacco sunburst lacquer, you can see where I got the idea from on the DW picture gallery. Also they sound amazing, they have amazing projection and like... slap?...

Yeah $400 is a great price, cheap for a DW-anything.

sounds like a very reputable company. YEAH WE HAVE 2 DW BNOB, except one is a pearl, and the other isnt black nickel... makes sense.

They were on back-order until recently. I know the store that I work at got one not to long ago. The price is like $399 or something, fairly cheap I think for a great snare. Probably why they flew...

Everything AreFish said is correct. I've owned a 7x13 Black Magic, and I've played the BNOB snare many times (14x6.5). I can say without a doubt I like the BNOB better. Like areFish said, its not...

cool snare man, 15" heads arent impossible to get. You may be limited in selection though

Get the DW Black Nickel over Brass. Great price (a little over $400) and great sound!! Comes in 5.5x14 and 6.5x14 if I am not mistaken.

Yeah definitely, thats the good thing about wraps, its very uniform.

As for lacquer, they actually request that you send them a shell you have so they can accurately match it.
