Yep, the VX & V are basswood.
I've got a VXB and the B signified that there's Birch in there too. It also has the ISO mounts. It's a great sounding kit tbh.
It's a Black Panther. 'Nuff said!
They're all excellent drums, and at that price & condition it's a steal.
There's a couple of Mapex Black Panther Blades on ebay at the moment at around the £100 mark. I got one earlier this year for £70 & it was in almost perfect condition. Great steel snare, especially...
Well when I saw them last year it was Brooks Wackerman, but he's with Avenged Sevenfold now so I don't know! :icon_lol:
As a side note to this, Michael changed his name professionally to Mike McGear and sang with The Scaffold, who had a hit with Lily The Pink.
Carry on.
Are you still with the Varukers? If so I'll see you at Rebellion in August.😎
You can pick up a Mapex M Birch for around the £200 mark. That would meet your needs perfectly.
They're only called Popsicles in North America (I had to look it up to find out what one was!).
The rest of the world calls them Ice Lollies.
Got to play out with the Armory last night for the first time. We played support to an all girl band (the same ones as last year) at a fantastic venue nearby. It was a 1920's ballroom in an Art Deco...
I sold my Mapex BP Panther last year as I didn't really play it - it was just too heavy(& I mean ridiculously heavy) to cart around to practice & gigs.
I've regretted it ever since TBH, and have...
Sad news indeed. Condolences to his family & friends.
Had a band practice, the first time we've played together since our gig on 3rd Dec (due to work commitments, xmas, etc). Played through the full set with no problems whatsoever & then all agreed we...
This is becoming a horrible day for music fans.

My 6 pc Armory came with 2 tom holders & clamps. I thought their inclusion was standard tbh.
Well I put my Christmas tree up this morning.

It's handy to have a spare kit!
I'm afraid I don't Weezy. Looking at their website I see they're near Darlington, so about 90 miles or so from me. Certainly make some nice looking drums.
Gorgeous kit. If I was getting a Saturn I'd go for that colour too.
Thanks guys. It is rather beautiful.
Just arrived home from picking up my latest purchase, a Highwood Legacy 14" x 5.5" Beech snare in Graphite Strata. I've wanted a Highwood snare for a while, especially as they're made only about 20...
The first band I was in was a punk band called Suicidal Tendencies.
This was in 1979, a whole 2 years before the other ones!
He was very popular in the 70's & 80's and had around 20 top 40 hits, including a couple that got to number 1.
Of course, he was also in the original recording of Jeff Wayne's "War Of The Worlds",...
I love my Pearl Chad Smith Sig steel snare & it's become my main one.
I recently got the Mapex Armory Exterminator (Birch/Walnut) and that sounds great too. I thought it'd be a more mellow sound,...
I'd have to say that this was more popular & well known over here. "Billy Don't Be A Hero" was by far their bigger hit in the UK, though probably not in the US.
...
Sad news that Phil Taylor has passed away.
