    Re: 2nd crash Cymbal placement

I too like my crashes pretty low. None of my cymbals pass shoulder height. My right crash is slightly lower than the left. The left crash is set just so that it doesn't hit the splash. I like my...

    Re: 2nd crash Cymbal placement

I have it right above the first floor tom. Not too close but not too far. I had a few moments when I felt I was hitting the edge of the crash so I slightly angled the crashes

    Re: Why 2 floor toms

I like one up, but don't like a 4 piece. Not enough drums. The next best thing, 1 up 2 down

    Re: Jeff Porcaro

I recently started learning the porcaro, bonham and purdie shuffles. Jeff was such a talented guy.

Re: I hate when that happens!

When I go to the the States, I buy those big bags of unmatched sticks from guitar centre. Some of them lasted for minutes, some for months.

Luckily you didn't have to cut one down. I cut mine years ago and I've always regretted it. Finding another rod is almost impossible.

Cool setup! Kind of reminds me of Neil Peart's setup. Did you cut the hihat rod down?

    Sticky: Re: Sabian Cymbals

B8s are a very good series for the price. They may not be top of the line, but they sound pretty decent. I still have a pair of 14" hihats. I tried the ride a while ago. I would have to grab it after...

Re: Any mid priced cymbal recommendations?

I'll second this. I got my HH ride for the price of a b8 ride in practically new condition. I bought my crashes new but only because they had a 50% off deal. Plus I ended up getting a free one from a...

Re: Got to assemble 10 new kits

Nice! I would've loved to do that. Sometimes I just tear my set up down and redo it for the fun of it.

Re: Any mid priced cymbal recommendations?

Are you dead set on Meinl? If not, I would seriously consider taking a look at Sabian XS 20's. very nice cymbals for the price. The hi hats have an excellent chick sound. B20 bronze.
  19. Re: Tweaked set up, getting serious , Todd Sucherman DVD's

Your setup looks very tight and comfortable. One thing I never got the hang of with offset toms was how far away the hihats were. It doesn't look like you have that issue.

    Sabian AAX crashes: My experience

    13736

16" AAX recording crash: a beautiful medium pitched crash. Pretty thin and a very dampened raw bell. Blends very nicely with my Wuhan splashes. Has a nice long sustain.
