    Re: country music

I have heard that if you learn to play country songs in reverse, you'll get your wife back, your money back and your dog might even come come again. Sorry. I'll get me coat.

    Re: elbow sticking out

Start a regime of practising with a friend standing behind you with a water gun, and have them squirt you in the back of the head every time your elbows get out of line!

Re: Overtone in my Bass Drum

Not necessary any more than it is for a guitarist or singer, but you'll be automatically ahead of the game if you can. A drummer who can compose / read music is a less likely thing than a guitarist...

    Re: Practice

Buy yourself some mallets and some tuned african percussion instruments, such as a tongue / slip drum, marimba.... musically they are quite inspirational.
  9. Re: Does anyone record their Gigs and what equipment do you use to record with?

I have used a Zoom H4n for years. Reliable and very good for the low entry cost, plus you can line-in or record the room.

    Re: Learning time signatures

Whilst I am technically more in the "percussionist" realm than "drummer", my two cents is that I lifted my game significantly with the purchase of a couple of tongue (slip) drums and the use of a...

I can attest to the solidarity and transparency of Mackie mixing desks. Extremely good bang for the buck IMO.

Billy Joel - "All for Leyna" (1980)
This album is amazingly produced. One of my all time favourite "audiophile" LPs to spin on the Technics deck.

Stewart Copeland, if not for his forging of an instantly recognizeable style and vibe, then for his personality - dude would fun to hang with for an hour. Or more.
