Re: How do I choose cymbals?

I was in a Metallica tribute band for 5 years. I use mostly Zildjian A Customs, a very versatile, all-around good pro cymbal (my China is a Z Custom). If I'm not mistaken - which I could very well be...

Congratulations. Gorgeous kit. I've been a DW owner since 1994, and I'm thinking of a new kit, maybe next year. Welcome to the club. ;)

Spider, I'd like to make you a very lucrative offer. I am willing to give you TWENTY U.S. DOLLARS, CASH MONEY, RIGHT NOW for that cymbal. Heheheheh...... :icon_wink:
  5. Re: $300 for a DW 9000 double bass pedal is pretty good, right?

DW pedals are built here in the US. The 9000 series double pedals are going for $450-$500 new, here (generally). If you're looking at $900 in New Zealand, the extra money you're paying is for...

    Re: choosing sticks....

Agreed. Oak is a harder wood than hickory, but it does tend to simply snap right in half, whereas hickory will splinter and "chip away" before actually breaking. Usually.

    Concerning tips, I'm a...

Re: BIG DRUMSET NEWS! (For DW at least)

Thanks, Ketchup. Fellow DW owner, or just a drum enthusiast? :)

Edit: I've been a DW owner since 1994. Believe me, I know how difficult it is to get replacement parts. And the genuine DW lugs and...

Re: BIG DRUMSET NEWS! (For DW at least)

No, actually, you can't. DW's lugs are a trademarked item, and they don't sell them at retail (individually or in sets). One of the lugs on my snare drum broke, I had to send the broken lug back to...

    Re: Bands that you love

RH, thanks. I'm glad you like it, I really appreciate the compliments. I have a 6-piece DW kit, circa 1994. They're the equivalent of what a Collector's Series would be now. Back then, there was no...

My sentiments exactly. You wouldn't buy a car if all you saw was the front fender, right? Check out the whole kit, inspect it for scratches, possible damage to the shells (especially since they've...
