I believe the reason it’s placed so far forward is for weight balance. With such a small, light BD, the weight of the ride cymbal needs to be placed over the spur. They get pretty tipsy otherwise....

SPL is the new name for Sound Percussion....as in the cheap import drums, LOL. These are the “Velocity Street Bop” series, which are Birch/Basswood blended shells. They’re only like $299 brand new. I...
My home-made kit and my SPL Bop kit, respectively;

Yep. Best thing I ever did was convert to my home-made jungle kit (8/13/16). They work for 95% of the gigs we play. Add mic’s and you’re covered for the other 5%. I’ve since gone to a 10/13/18, but...
I love my super-flake glitter lacquer finish....but this is just mesmerizing.
LOL, that’s actually my oldest brother. He’s 12yrs older than me. Trust me, there’s not much chance of him getting any smaller. :icon_lol:
Finally captured a few more pics of the Ludwig Centennials. This is a more “colorful” setting from last Saturday night. I helped out our new guitarist with one of his own personal gigs.

Yep, the tru-pitch are basically fine thread. I have no clue exactly what the thread count is...other than it’s a finer than standard pitch.
If the “50” is different, than yes, you’ll need to pull...
The PDP Concepts have the true pitch threads already. I think he’s just swapping from chrome plated to Stainless.
Sticky tension rods are common on a brand new kit. Mine were the same way, as well as the new Ludwig Centennials I bought. They’re just dry..... add a little dab of Vaseline to the threads and...
Those Concept Classics are sweet! I just sold my Concept Maples. The build quality was excellent and they sounded good as well.
That's awesome. So, do you have to keep one hand up in the air above your head when you play? Do you have to get out from behind the drums after 8 seconds??
:icon_lol:
Finally....used my new Ludwig Centennial kit for the FIRST time last night since I bought them in July. Not the best picture, I had to mess with the photo edit due to the lighting. I'll try to take...
That would fit right in here in Nebraska! Only problem is the audience doesn't get to see it. I've always wondered, what effect (if any) does that color have on the cymbals? Does it show stick marks...
That's awesome. I see what you did there in the center between the cymbals; making a cross out of the rack tubing! You should wrap those sections of tubing with some gold vinyl to really make the...
If I want to know what I said 5yrs ago, I just ask my wife...
Wow. Such absolutely beautiful drums everyone has.
It's actually a sparkle, but it's very fine and dense. It's actually really cool when viewed straight on or at a slight angle. For some reason, it just looks rather flat & dull grey from out in...
They're perfect for gigging in small venues and bars. Been using my home-made jungle kit (8/13/16) for the last year. This kit works even better. The 10" Tom has better projection than the 8", plus...
I figured since everyone's posting all these awesome & beautiful kits, I'll balance out the thread and post up a few pics of my $100 CL score. Finally got to use my Sound Percussion "street bop" kit...
Excellent! That's what I was after...the whole rock-a-billy/early hot rod feel. I tried to blend the classic "pin-up" girl riding a bomb with a country theme. I've had several people ask about band...
Thanks guys! I like the logo (made it myself), but I honestly don't care much for our name. Sounds too much like a variety show in Branson, MO. :icon_lol: It can make it hard to get bar bookings....
Let the Concept Maples out to play last weekend. The more I look at the fade finish, the more I like them. I just installed the decal of our new band logo.....looks like I forgot to tighten and tune...
Id say just buy a pair of unfinished wood hoops for the bass and stain them a darker shade like Walnut or Mahogany color. Then, switch from the clear to a Fiberskyn front reso. The dark wood hoops...
The FULL band name is "Corn Cob Bob's Custom Blended Honka-Billy-Grass Music"......but it's only a 16" head :icon_lol: Maybe I'll be able to fit it all on my 28" Ludwig bass head.
