    Re: Spalted Birch

Love your projects man! So keen to see the finished product!
  2. Re: Cymbal weights for crash and ride for rock music

Plenty of lesser known Turkish/chinese brands with good sounding cymbals for cheap prices.
  3. Re: Pearl Vision vs Tama Silverstar which would you choose to gig with?

Both solid mid range kits. I’d be happy playing either personally.

    Re: Muffle Bass Drum Reso?

I’ve got some bits of felt taped onto the inside of my reso head on my Pdp, otherwise I use a flat pillow leaning against the batter head and touching the reso (sitting like an L).

Re: Led Zep found not guilty

That's a funny one, as I'm pretty sure that flute melody in Down Under was intended to sound like the kids song (which is called Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree) but I don't think they knew that...

    Re: Mic sets

I snagged a set of Carol mics off Gumtree for $40 a few weeks ago. Really nothing special but they do a job... Keep an eye on your second hand market too mate.

Re: Ufip B12 Earcreated 20" ride info?

Is that definitely the series name? I know that earcrated is the name of the process that Ufip uses to make their cymbals, seems strange to me for one series to bear that name. Have a look on Ufip’s...

    Re: Mapex go around

I got lucky adding to my Pdp LXE a few years ago. I let a 16” tom go on ebay, regretted it and then stumbled across another one some time later. Snapped that one up immediately, only cost me just shy...

    Re: Mixing cymbals

I am a bit ocd to a degree. I was going for an all Sabian setup initially, but then I came across Impression cymbals in a local shop and grabbed a bunch of them as well.
  13. Re: Comparing Dream Bliss 18" crash/ride to a Vintange 18" crash/ride

The best answer to your question is for you to go have a hit of each cymbal and decide for yourself. That being said, Dream’s cymbals vary from cymbal to cymbal due to the handmade process so one...

    Re: My PDP X7

I’ve had that exact same problem with the mounts putting pressure on the lugs on my PDP. Pretty frustrating trying to tune em like that, but equally frustrating taking the toms apart, bending the...

Re: Cheap kit any idea what they are?

I recognise that wingnut on the bass mount, I think it’s a brand called Tornado, which is probably just a no-name beginner brand. That being said, I used a Tornado stand on a kit at a gig last...

    Re: Leaving my band

My band played its last gig at the end of July last year and broke up due to clashing of personalities and other similar factors. It was frustrating for me because in my opinion, everything that went...

Re: Help what kind of drum set is this?

That could be a Tama Rockstar. I’ve got a snare with similar lugs. Or it could be just a beginner kit?

Re: DW 9000 Throne Driving me NUTS

Does your throne have a memory lock? I've got a Pearl/Dixon one, it's got the main screw plus a memory lock which is tightened with a drum key. Most thrones should have a similar thing.

What’s the venue like? Is it a more chilled out sorta gig? Reason I ask is could you get away without using a kick mic? If not, then yeah all above suggestions are viable to a degree. I’ve got a...
