I've been aiming to pick up a bop set of Gretsch Catalina Clubs. A used set of Reknowns just showed up in my neck of the woods.
Worth springing for the Reknowns? I'm guessing the answer is "yes".

    Re: Bop Kit Decisions

Question for you Gretsch gurus. When was the Catalina Club series last revised? Were these changes significant enough that I should consider the newer drums? I'm primarily interested if they were...

    Re: Bop Kit Decisions

Nice! Any idea if they were Catalina Club or Maple? Did the 18" bass drum have enough oomph and low end with the mics?
I'm assuming a good drummer will get the job done with style as long as the...

Very nice looking set! For $300, will you throw in all the cymbals, the rug, and help me swing more? :)

Thanks for the advice (and laugh). You are obviously knowledgeable about joint replacements! I am consulting with my surgeon. I'm a few years out of my surgery.

    Re: Drumming and Hip Replacements

Thanks for the forum welcome! I appreciate the ideas and suggestions. The hip surgery a few years ago was, of course, not fun. But after some time out and physical therapy, I've been pain free. ...

For similar money, any folks think the maple of the used Mapex Pro M bop kit would be a better and more resonant
    sounding drum than the Catalinas?

    Re: Bop Kit Decisions

Thanks weezy. I'm sure you are right.. all of these kits would be great! I've read several people recommending a 20 over an 18 for versatility. Do you think a 20 BD would have enough oomph to kick...

I recently came across a very nice used Zildjian ride cymbal. The seller
believes it is a Constantinople. Is there a way to know for sure?

    Thanks.
