    Re: Ring of Fire song

Thanks! I am playing accents on 2 & 4 mostly, but I follow the trumpet line a bit and play those some of the time. Also, there's a bunch of 3/4 measures in there you have to navigate.

    The...

I played my town's yearly festival several years ago (opening up for Stxy). I was hanging around early when the sound crew was setting up. They were running around like crazy people trying to get...

    Re: Ring of Fire song

Thanks! That is very much appreciated. I don't often go back and listen to my videos after they are a couple of years old for fear that I won't like what I did and will remove them, but that one...
  5. Re: Yamaha Maple Custom Absolute Nouveau for sale - 10/12/14/20

I agree - this finish is gorgeous. It makes me a little ill to be selling this kit, but I just never use it with my current projects because I really need a 16" floor tom most of the time. I've tried...

Re: First 2 notes on Beatles "Come Together"?

I used to always play a sextuplet on the snare rim over the top of those 2 bass drum notes. With my currently band, we kind of reproduce that sound vocally over the mics.

Thanks for the mention! Let me know if you have any questions about the song that I may be able to answer.

I am attempting to sell this kit (link below), but I would consider a trade for a kit of comparable quality with 10/12/16 toms.

Are the heads on my Design Series UT versions? I'm not sure. I've had several new kits with UT heads, and they always specifically say UT and "Made in Taiwan" like this:

I thought it might be fun to post pictures and praise for our favorite throw-offs. I'll start:

    Re: Evans hydraulic drum heads

Is there any difference between the Evans Hydraulics and Remo Pinstipes? They both say 2 ply, 7 mils, and oil filled.

I've used Pinstripes off and on for years. I've found that it may not always...

Re: Anyone have experience with mic pre-amps?

We are running our own PA most of the time. If we had a sound guy, I'm guessing this would never be a problem.

Anyone have experience with mic pre-amps?

With my live band, we are pushing the board a little too much with our vocal mics, and they are very close to feeding back. We don't have any problems with the guitars or drums. Would adding a mic...

That is the LP Raw Street Can - It's steel, looks crazy, is heavy as hell, and basically just sounds like a floor tom with no bottom head. Comes in 14/16/18. I have the 18"

I haven't had these for very long, but they seem like they will be usable for a lot longer than MoonGel, with the curling corners. The clear thing is nice, but I think MoonGel just released a clear...

The Russ Miller Groove Wedge. I like it - with some qualifiers.

Thanks! I'm using Vater Buzzkill gels. They are like Moongels, but a bit more sticky, maybe 25% bigger each, and round, which is really nice. Those corners on the moongels tend to start rolling up...

That looks like a great setup, but I don't think they sell it without the mic, which I already have. I have been thinking about a Kelly Shu, but I went ahead and just ported the kick drum for now.
