What head are you using now? As Zarrdoss mentioned, a different head can make all the difference. Give an Evans coated G2 or ST Dry a shot as well.

Looks good man! You should throw some sound samples up.
Most of the sessions I do the kick is never isolated. I find it interesting all the different techniques that are out there. Mostly depends...
Thanks guys!!
Thanks man!! By far this was the best sounding drum room I've played in yet. The engineer loved the whole kit and how easy it mic'd up, but he commented on the cymbals as well. :)
Thanks man!!
Thanks man!!:)
Was recently in the studio with my band, Sunday Brave, tracking our next single. I used my refinished Starclassic birch kit for the recording along with a Canopus 6.5x14 maple snare and a combo of...
Yes Bish, I was. And I agree, we all make this a great place.
BTW MDK, just saw a post on the Tama forum that state new replacement rubber grommets are available to solve the issue you had.......
Marko got my vote :)
It's all good man, no worries. :) Hopefully you're not shunned to much by Tama. As many will attest along with myself owning several, I've never had issues.
Good luck with your hunt and keep...

Ok just saw the head comparison. Lol
Dunno man, looks like the shell wasn't drilled properly. Will check my kit this weekend.
Got your PM.....
The gouge as you describe is simply a channel for where the seams overlap to provide more of a tight fit against the shell. Perfectly normal and my other kits that are wrapped...
Yeah, it did! Increased the volume a bit and made them punchier
Still using the coated G2's. Gonna try coated G14's next, just for fun. :)
Ok being an over the top Tama advocate, I def suggest Silverstars. There's a complete review here:

+1.... I've had more than one issue of incompetence with GC
