Zildjian Cymbals

To anyone who gets their hands on an Amir ride, especially the earlier ones......never ever part with it! Not only are they becoming hard to come across, you'll find they are a great pingy, slightly dry yet articulate ride that not only blended well with Zildjians, such as Z Zildjians, their 'predecesors' the Impulse line and also surprisingly a few drummers swore by having an Amir ride mixed in with Avedis and K Zildjians...not only that, but the way Amirs were made (hammered from sheet bronze as opposed to being made from cast bronze), it made them fairly compatible with even a few Paistes out there too, seeing that a lot of Paistes are made in a similar way. I remember a mate of mine in the early 90's having an Amir ride with K/Z hi-hats, three Paiste crashes (might have been 2002 or 3000's or a mix), a RUDE China and a couple of Zildjian and Paiste splashes, and the whole set sounded fantastic.

Thank you for the info that was really interesting to read! Considering the rest of my cymbals are Paiste Alphas, hopefully the whole set will sound equally as good.

It almost looks like a rude!

It actually has quite a similar sound, but I don't think the bell is as bright, still very happy with it though! I'm picking it up next week so a video will be up on the day.

Went to music store yesterday and was checking out a cymbal that a friend of mine wants...PHROGGE, that would fall under another brand thread..but sample'd a Zildjian K hybred 21"...WOW that was exactly what I was wanting...a good Jazz ride with a terrific bell,, Hmmmm now how to get one without breaking the bank or marriage..LOL

I've got the 20" version. It is perfect for jazz. A nice light, pingy, sound with a great bell.

Ok guys and gals...need an opinion..I can't get that K hybrid 21" out of my head...so I am considering selling my 22" A custom ping ride and get that K! can't have my cake and eat it too right now ( funds ) thoughts?

DMachine, had one of those in my past..20" played it too hard ( young and dumb ) cracked it but kept on playing it ....sharp edges and all...man I missed that sound..hope to re-create it soon.

Yeah I'm afraid of that day .... so I bang harder on my UFIP and play these with tender care! I didn't specify that I have 1 ride and 2 hi-hats.
