Picked up this Rude 18" crash/ride a few months ago. Had my eye on it at my local indie drum shop for quite sometime and finally pulled the trigger after it had been marked down by 20%.

It's really going to help where the Eclipse 24" Mega Power Ride is too beastly.

Hey there Gee.....If I had to choose a genre for purely my own personal taste, it would be hard rock/heavy metal with some blast beats thrown in for good measure but I'm not into the screaming 'cookie monster' vocals that one usually associates with this genre. My working band is your 'run-of the mill' classic rock/R&B type of music.

I have a love/hate relationship with my Sabians but not the Rudes or Zildjians. They sound exactly how I imagined they would.

Having no experience with the PST8s, I had to listen to a few reviews on utube to understand what you were referring to. From the videos alone, I would say that the PST8s are rather typical of the B8 alloy sound. Paiste makes some B8 formula cymbals that sound much better, but the PST8s are typical and many people love that sound. Obviously, you do not.

May I suggest moving to the B20 formula cymbals? The most common of these are Zildjian A and K models, and Sabian AA and HH models. These are as common as dirt, but have the sounds that have defined western music for well over a century. Buy used. Ebay is an excellent source. Since you want to change your hi hat cymbals first, try a set of Zildjian 14" New Beats. Expect to pay $100-125. Then try a Zildjian ride cymbal. The 20" Medium Ride or Sweet Ride or Ping Ride are excellent samples. If you like the B20 tones, post again and we'll give you more options.

YES !! I LOVE cymbals when in the store or being played by someone else. I may not like cymbals when I play them, especially after I bring them home. More to your point, I have to wear earbuds (click-track) in my band. In the rare times I get to play a song without them, they sound harsh and clangy.

    Okay.. ...awesome collection!
I just made a switch to Paiste. I had owned some vintage mid 70's 2oo2s way back when. Bought them new. Also had some 3000 reflector series...Should have kept them. Oh the gear I let slip through my fingers. Love the new PST7s I just got.
