I just found out tonight the news on Frank.....
I had just finished teaching when the owner of our local shop broke the news to me.I have had the pleasure of many a conversation with Frank at our local drum shop.
The one thing I will always remember is he had a constant passion for drumming and truly lived and breathed it everyday. He held all of the members of this board in the highest regard and when he'd talk about some of his post he would light up with enthusiasm. He truly loved drumming and being a part of our community.

Frank- May your 63 red sparkles forever keep time. RESPECT

Cycle Dude- Thanks for posting this to all the fellow drumchatters.

Oh man, I have been traveling for work and haven't logged on in several days...
I can't believe it. My thoughts echo those already put down by you guys & gals... I also thought he was doing better; maybe he just didn't want us to worry(?)
I don't know what else to add...
I never got to meet you in person Frank; look forward to meeting you some day in the next life. I am glad your pain is over but I feel so badly for your loved ones.
    R.I.P. FRANK!

Wow this is terrible news, havnt been on in a while and only just saw it. He didnt build it up to sound very serious at all, he must have been a noble and brave character. It shows the benefits of facebook in a way, being able to know these things rather than thinking he had left for some reason or another. Very knowledgable, he gave me some advice i am very thankful of. My prayers will be with his family

    Oh ... my ... God ...

The last time I communicated with Frank was in the shoutbox on the night of August 9th. Little did I--much anyone else--know it would be the last time we'd contact him in this life.

One thing we had long discussed doing was my coming up to Des Moines to sit in on percussion with his band. That didn't happen--not here anyway, and I am sad we can't do it right now--but I sincerely hope we'll have an opportunity in eternity to do just that...

Pete, thank you for sharing what has to be rougher on you and your family than it was for any of us DrumChatters. Your father brought intelligence, experience and a great sense of humor to DrumChat--and he will not only missed, but warmly remembered by those who knew him, both in person and on the Internet.

    Arrivederci, mi amici...

    What?!

Like other people have said, this is just shocking - I mean, I saw him post about him recovering and everything else.

We didn't speak as much as other people did, but he always had the greatest faith in me and I had so much respect for what he'd achieved with his life and what he was continuing to do with it. To teach; surely that's one of the highest goals ANYONE could ever wish to attain; to be recognised as being so good at your craft, your skills are sought after by those wishing to learn. It's outstanding. And the fact that he shared his knowledge with anyone should hint at his capacity for charity.

RIP Frank. I'll find a big beautiful quotation to put here, then go bawl my eyes out.

    Thank ya sir,
I hope I wasn't out of line... Didn't mean to speak
or feel for anybody. Just felt like I needed to do
something... There wasn't a time I sat behind my
drums after meeting Frank here on DC that I looked
down at either one of my Luddys and didn't think of
him. He was a true gentleman drummer/Luddy man!
Ol' school straight shooter, A genuine embassador!
He "repeaked" so to speak my interest in Ludwig.
Proud to have got to know him and just some of
    that proud to remember him.
This ol' world has sure got some hard bark to it...

DBC , I dont think it was out of line .I thought it to be very respectful . And your memories and thought of him is exactly how I felt towards Frank myself .

I would do the same thing .....look down at my 1967 Luddwigs and think to myself ,why does Franks set from 64 look so much newer than mine .

He may be gone , but will definately not be forgotten .
