Thanks for the kind words guys. We had a gig Friday night, which was also my 30th birthday. After the set the sound guy told me my kit sounded great. I thought that was pretty cool.

I like a splash where you describe yours, between the hats and first crash. I use mine a lot at the very end of short fills with my left hand a 1/16 note before the downbeat for the "a-1" effect. My current band plays a bit too loud most of the time for it to have a very big effect, but the color is there.
That's my problem. Our stuff is heavy and that splash isn't very loud...as I'm sure most aren't. So it really doesn't have much of an effect. I use it in 2 different fills in 2 different songs...and actually the fills are very similar. I'll rack a video of the fill. But ya...there aren't many places I can use it where you can actually hear it.

And get the job done, it did. It was probably the most fun show I've played in a VERY long time. Hopefully some videos show up so I can post them!

As you can see, I put the ambassadors back on the toms and I honestly really like them better than the G1's. I'm thinking of buying some Evans Coated G2's (just because I'm trying to go for an all-evans thing) which I'm guessing is the Evans equivalent of Ambassadors, and just sticking with those. I was LOVING the sound of my toms last night. Still not sure how I feel about the snare yet, but for the time being I'm just going to keep on rocking out and figure that stuff out later.

G1's are ambassador equivalents (single ply 10 mil thick), G2's are Emperor equivalents (double ply, 2-7 mil thick plies). Anyway, nice pic! Sounds like load's of fun.

Here is my set up from Saturday night's gig in a tent outside. That yellow wire snuck into the picture as I needed to get up quite high to get the full width of the kit in the pic. It is still a little cut off here and there, but you get the idea.

PDP MX Series Drums, Zildjian A Custom cymbals, Tama Simon Phillips Gladiator Signature snare, Roc-N-Soc throne.

Man, there have been a lot of great kits on this thread since I last peaked in here! Beauties!

PxT, if she rocks, then it's all good. Nice choice in cymbals. It does look like your hi-hat is a bit far to the right compared to where I have mine. Any special reason you like it there?

HH is furthest to the left in that photo. I thought that was pretty standard but maybe I've been doing it wrong? How do you have yours setup?

PxT, I would move the left side crash out to the front/left of the 10" tom. Then I would move the hi-hat to the 10 o'clock in relation to the snare, with the hi-hat pedal facing you. Of course, if you are comfortable with your current set-up, who am I to judge?

I agree with Pastor Bob. That looks like a pretty big angle between your pedals. If my bass drum is at 12 o'clock, I like to keep the hihat pedal right at 10:30 or so. I also am not very flexible, so that may slant my preference. You could raise the crash up and let about 1/3 of it hover above your smallest tom. That should clear some space to get the hats in closer.
