Great finish choice. Love the config too. Flat toms remind me of Benny Greb or Bill Bruford.
    Proudly playing:
    Doc Sweeney Drums
    A bunch of snares
    A bunch of cymbals

    Off-Set double pedals

I think I love to play the drums simply because you get to hit 'em!!!

Haven't had the whole thing set up in a while. Thought I'd show it off. These are the crappy cymbals I use just for practice.

A birds eye pic of my Pearl free floater. Went to GC today and picked up a Genera Dry batter and a Hazy 300 reso. This thing is a beast.

I was inspired by druski's set to try and rearrange my rack toms in a way similar to his. I moved them off of the bass drum and used the BD mount in a multi-clamp to mount them on a cymbal stand. This puts my most used tom, the 12", right in front of my snare, and lets me bring the ride cymbal in closer as well. I'm loving it!

Looking good. I use a 12" tom and have it in the same spot.

I've been noticing that I hardly ever use my 10" tom, so I decided to pull it from the kit for now. That allows me to get my hats in a little closer. I'm really digging it that way. I also realized that I never use my Chinese cymbal, so it got yanked as well. When I want that trashy sound, I use my AAX Ozones. Either the 16" crash or the 10" splash. I'll try to get pics one of these days.

i did the same thing. I like the cymbals with cutouts (I use the Zildjian EFX) because you get the trashy sound but it's quite a bit smoother than a china. Fills the same role but I don't get a headache.

Yeah, same here. I could never get the right spacing and height with running the 10" and 12" off a stand over the hihat, and the hihat was always too far to the left. I now run the 12" on its own, with 14" and 16" floor toms. Everything's comfy, and the ride is still nice and close, so happy days. Like you, an 18" HHX Ozone has replaced the china (usually).

    18" Sabian AAX China

    +1

After years of playing chinas, I replaced them with an 18" Wuhan Linear Smash. The only china that I ended up really liking in the end was a 14" Sabian HH Evolution Mini China which seems to easily blend into just about every situation from low to loud ...

    TAMA Hyperdrive Birch

Just picked up the AXX OMNI ride/crash last week (18) and I LOVE it. Goes really well with the 16 and 18 AAX Xplosion crashes! a loud dry crash...
I really do love this kit! (thats an 8inch Toca between the hi hats and the 10 inch tom). Chad smith signature black nickel snare goes great with the black nickel lugs and mounts!!!

PS. Just got my AA ride back from Sabian last week too. It went through the $40 refresh service and it came back like BRAND NEW! amazing work at Sabian
I fully recommend the 'refresh' service on old cymbals that are not broken.

Very cool! Glad to know that set-up is working well for you! I love the two-offsetting toms, it allows the ride cymbal to be in the sweet spot and is comfortable to reach the bell and play as well.

Before moving the rack toms off to the side, I was using the bass drum tom mount.
