Beautiful kit. What are you using to muffle the toms?

Thanks! I'm using Vater Buzzkill gels. They are like Moongels, but a bit more sticky, maybe 25% bigger each, and round, which is really nice. Those corners on the moongels tend to start rolling up when they get a little use. These should stay flat.

I also like that those are clear... I should order some for my store to try out.

I use a lot of moon gel with all my kits and traveling etc.

I haven't had these for very long, but they seem like they will be usable for a lot longer than MoonGel, with the curling corners. The clear thing is nice, but I think MoonGel just released a clear version as well. I've also gone to Hobby Lobby and bought some decorative window clings, which work fine and can end up looking fun depending on the season. I haven't been muffling my toms live in the past few years (just for recording), but these new toms ring quite a lot more than the birch drums I was just using.

I saw a Thomas Lang video and he was using Drumtacs. Pretty simple mufflers and I was going to pick up a pack. Way more expensive then I thought.

I also use those window clings, or the sticky hands you get for 25 cents from a vending machine. They're way cheaper and are basically the same thing.

Hihihi. Sharp eyes. I'm in the process of resetting everything up. Busy waiting on the mat to arrive then the dust is gone!

They're 12 and 13. This is my first "birds-eye" shot and it didn't turn out great. The perspective is kinda wonky.

Yeah I feel like I'm always dusting my kit off... and then I remember it's all saw dust from my stick shavings. Just ask Rick!

Turned out fine. Just look incredibly the same. I myself would set my kit up different with sizes that close.
But that's just me. I always love a tom on my left and right. So I'd set the 13 on the left side and do a 3 up top or maybe even 2 up 2 down

I know there's a lot of Neil Peart fans here but my personal taste is I don't like putting toms right over my hi-hat like that.
But that's why we all are different and have different opinions and styles etc.

It's a nice setup either way. Love all the matching DW pedals. Makes my OCD happy! haha

Cool setup! Kind of reminds me of Neil Peart's setup. Did you cut the hihat rod down?

Thanks. I decided to go with the Neil Peart setup because I prefer a 4-piece kit and wanted the other toms out of the way for the most part.

Luckily the DW hi-hat comes with short and long rods.

Luckily you didn't have to cut one down. I cut mine years ago and I've always regretted it. Finding another rod is almost impossible.
