In honor of Dio, I've been listening to Dio-era Sabbath- and old Rainbow. Great stuff, and it never gets old :-)

Getting into Haste the Day, All that Remains, and August Burns Red. All that Remains has one of the BEST, CRAZIEST, MOST INTENSE DRUMMERS I'VE EVER HEARD IN MY FREAKING LIFE. Listen to Two Weeks or This Calling by them. They're all great, he somehow finds a way to show off ridiculously in every song with 64th notes on the kick. ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS.

Every drummer that had a name, had a name because of his individual playing. He didn't sound like anybody else, So everybody that I ever listened to, in some form, influenced my taste.

I've been really getting into blues lately. I enjoy looking up covers of and songs inspired by old blues classics, and comparing them to the originals.

    Examples:

Rolling Stone (Muddy Waters) - Catfish Blues (The Jimi Hendrix Experience)
You Shook Me (Willie Dixon) - You Shook Me (Led Zeppelin)
You Need Love (Willie Dixon) - Whole Lotta Love (Led Zeppelin)
Traveling Riverside Blues (Robert Johnson) - Traveling Riverside Blues (Led Zeppelin)
Crossroads (Robert Johnson) - Crossroads (Cream)
Death Letter Blues (Son House) - Death Letter (White Stripes)

And there are dozens, if not hundreds more. It's pretty interesting. I think
