Well if you don't like trashy, then you may want to steer away. Some give a "dirty" sound, but I personally love the vintage tones they give off. I don't think it would be a downgrade, but a drastic change on your kit.

I'm looking for something with a similar sound to the K custom hybrid crashes. I may have a different view of trashy than you may be thinking. When I think trashy I think like junky wuhan crashes that sound like chinas.. Do you know if any of the dreams sound similar to the k custom hybrids? If not I will probably just get the zildjian, but I thought if so I could get 2 dreams for the price of a zildjian.

Not sure where you are in PA, but if you Google search "dream cymbal dealers" it'll take you the dealer's page on the Dream website. There you can see local music stores that carry the cymbals. Maybe one is nearby and you can go take a listen.

I checked those and none of those dealers were close to me. The drum shop that I go to doesn't carry these dream cymbals because they said the quality of them was not up to par for the shop, and they are a pretty reputable drum shop.

Anybody know any thing more about these cymbals?
Well, I have a !9" crash/ride, 20" crash/ride and a 22" crash/ride, they are very much like old K's, they are hand hammered cymbals. The cymbals come with a year warranty and they sound great. My local drum shop carries the whole line. If you're looking for a first class quality cymbal at a fraction of what Zildjian K's cost, buy them. You can find them on ebay.

True. Thank you for response. What line of Dream's do you have JR? I just hate to buy cymbals without first hearing them. Some you can hear on ebay, but others not ya know?

Check out that video.. They sound pretty good on there. I don't know how they were altered with the mic's and eq's and what not, but still they sound decent.
They look real good and sound pretty good too! However, he's pretty light on them...which is okay for smooth jazz. I play Rock these days and require a little more out of my cymbals. I like them heavy and deep sounding. When I hit a crash, I want them to be felt. You know what though, those drums sounded awesome!...I wonder what he is playing on...looks like DWs...is that right?

Yea Nio I was skeptical because it sounds like the drums are possibly altered through the mics and the cymbals may be as well. The music may also be "enhancing" how they sound and I'm not sure how they would be in a rock setting.

Dream is certainly geared more towards Jazz, there is a big difference when we say they compare to "old Ks" than the new Ks on the market. The K hybrid will have a much brighter sound, louder, more projection. The dreams are dark and trashy/glassy/shimmery however you want to call it. I'm not going to say that they won't work well in a Rock setting, but they are certainly not the best choice for that genre. Also because these cymbals are 100% hand hammered, no 2 will sound the same, picking them out in person is a must.

Well, I play in a classic rock cover band and the Dream cymbals I have are perfect, in fact I'm looking to trade my Zildjian New Beat hi hats toward Dream hi-hats. They are thin cymbals, but if you buy bigger ones they are absolutely beautiful to play, I had a 16" crash that was also nice, but I've come to appreciate bigger cymbals.

Back to that Carlos Skinfill video I posted earlier, I found a more raw version of the band rehearsing it. Gives a different sound to the cymbals.

Oh, I really do like the Dreams, and own quite a few. But I also own alot of K's, A's, and K hybrids.

Dreams DO NOT do K hybrid tones. K hybrid tones are very close to A-Customs imo.

Dreams are closer to Constantinoples and K customs than anything I know of. They are a great deal.

Absolutely. You have to pick them in person. Period.
