These icons are as bad as cursing, they represent the same state of mind but instead reading it, you see it. IMO they should be remove from the available smilies in this forum.

worst post i have ever seen posted on drumchat!

i am sick of people arguing with the mods. the same thing happens when everyone is reminded not to sell stuff here- people just argue argue argue. why fire back at the site? and where is your drummer forum? if you can argue with the jobs that these mods are doing, then you must run your own drummer forum? right??

im not sure what you are seeing in the icons, but come on dude, really? rolling your eyes indicates a cuss word?

you need to check yourself dude.

Does WTF or FGS is included as cursed words because it's the words I mostly mean, I never used SOB because I'll never say such thing to someone. FYI I'm educated and more over english isn't my birth language so I dont know all the words that could be included as cursing

    could mean Moron

Let's just keep it to abbreviations, as Drummer had noted. If there is an emoticon provided by the forum that fits your need, please feel free to use it.

There's plenty of clean words to substitute for words of curse. Maybe a small effort to use those instead, would be better no? Darn, gosh, drat, etc..

I'm from the UK and and one thing I don't get is how su admin can start a thread called this http://www.drumchat.com/showthread.php/piss-people-off-14283.html

and then ask us not to use profanities.

PS (In the UK, the p-word is everybit as bad as the *-word or the *-word. It's not quite as bad as the *-word though!

stick clicker, you make a good point, and you should just PM su_admin and let them know about it. We do try to keep things family friendly around here, so if there is something that is offensive to our international brothers and sisters (or too their children), I'm sure a heads up (such as this one) would be appreciated.

Yes please exercise restraint and avoid using cuss words. DC gets all ages coming in here and it's better to keep it clean so they aren't negatively influenced by anything. Try and substitute harsh words with stuff like dang and darn instead of the other ones. A special thanks goes out to everyone that has been doing this, but i've seen a few slips here and there so i'm just giving it a light mention. Thanks again.

I'm kind of digressing here but who the heck deemed those words offensive... you know what i mean? I always think about this... why is it so vulgar and disrespectful to raise your middle finger by itself? and what makes any of those substitutes any less "harmful" ( i dont think swear words to damage to anything) than the words that they are put in place of?

" people who dont believe in gosh go to freaking heck and i'm darn right about that."

^^^^^^^^ if i said that sentence, of course with the words that are obviously suposed to be there, does it change the meaning of my statement? Does that statement all of a sudden become a volatile and harmful thing that shouldnt be seen? its the context i'm curious about...

please dont see my view as combative ( i understand the reasoning behind the police of course) but does anybody just feel indifferent about it like i do? I am very happy to be a part of this community where seldom is heard, a discouraging word, but i've just never been able to comprehend the effectiveness of certain words.

Now you could very well have the same argument with somebody saying that rolling your eyes at somebody isnt disrespectful, but it could get you whipped other places... you know what i mean? I'm just trying to get some insight here as this issue is fascinating to me!! dont take my approach as "we should be allowed to curse" because thats not how i'm approaching it. I'm just Curious George

culture and society deem these things so......

    status quo

"the general state of things; the combination of circumstances at a given time; "the present international situation is dangerous"; "wondered how such a state of affairs had come about"; "eternal truths will be neither true nor eternal unless they have fresh meaning for every new social situation"- Franklin D.Roosevelt"

Is this zero tolerence from an American view or a global one? Some words that I use are not offensive in my community but some American ones are to me. I just use my discretion by reading the content to see if an offence is meant.

It would be pretty tiring and petty if we tried to snag every word that may cause offence.

Understood Howzit, and I agree that the global nature of the internet means that keeping this site "family friendly" is not nearly as easy as it might seem. If there are words that some of our international friends see as less than family friendly, we would appreciate knowing about it, since our family friendliness is not meant solely for the US. On the other hand, although there are certain words that would not be allowed (and those words are automatically taken care of by the autocenser) the mods try to use discretion.

Thanks for the good work PB and crew.

PB, my dad would say whilst a POW: "We'd save our butts and use them to roll another fag." (save the stub of the last cigarette). Still used today in the UK and Commonwealth.

There is no way in he** I am telling you that "fanny" is offensive! (subtitute heck)

...I don't envy the mods on a global forum.

    ~ Bump ~

For new members (and some old ones)...
Please do not cuss in here. This is a family-friendly forum and we try to keep it that way. We're not as strict as we used to be but please still do your best to abide by the forum rules. Here is the rule on cussing:

    Conduct / Language:
The core of DrumChat.com is about RESPECT. Please do not flame or disrespect other users. We are all here to have fun. The occasional joke or good-natured rib is fine; just don't let it get out of hand. DrumChat.com is a family-friendly forum and no swearing (including abbreviations) or crude behavior is permitted. We ask that you also avoid topics such as drinking, drugs, adult products, guns and pornography.
And if you're not sure whether a word is cussing, use the comma rule; "When in doubt, leave it out."

    Thank you!
