    Default Knee pain

I've been playing the drums on and off for about 2-3 years now and i just recently got into double bass. I'm a hard hitter when it comes to hitting the bass drum, but after about 30 min of playing, what seems to be my knee cap hurts. Now i usually play for about 2-3 hours of practice a day(or try to) on the kit.

I tried adjusting my seat a littler higher, but it still seems to hurt a bit.

Oh, and i play heel up. Any ideas of what i'm doing wrong, or what i can do to help it? It doesn't hurt to much, and i don't even notice until i start walking, but i would rather not make it worse.

It's just that your legs arent used to the workout you do while doing double bass. It used to happen to me at the very beginning but you should start building up endurance with time.

dgonzo, I don't know your age, but there are several conditions that can occur in the teen years that should be ruled out if you are a teen. It is most likely an over use tendinitis, but if your bones are still growing, as I said, there are several grown center related conditions that should be ruled out.

Dude, I'm having the EXACT same issue in the EXACT same situation. You probably just have to get used to it. Might be just like working out.

Quite possibly it might be from a previous injury that at the time wasn't noticed as much. But now because you are using that area in a different context, it is now bothering you. I would continue to play for a while and if it doesn't get any better I would see a doctor. You might have a bone chip floating around in there. Cheers.
