    Default Wuhan-Not just for chinas?

    Hey all-

I have a question about Wuhan's New Traditional line of cymbals. I found a pair of 14" hats, 14"+16" crashes, 18" C/R, and 20" ride on musiciansfriend. Anyone know if they are worth it? I know they're hand hammered, but reviews i've read said they're up there with A Customs. $50 for a A Custom caliber crash? Unreal. Any info on these?
So itchie, how did the kick sound?

always remember ,,,, you get what you pay for .... im pretty sure that your not really going to get a A custom caliber cymbal for 50 bucks .. i think thats just something they say to make you buy them .... now im not saying that the wuhan cymbals are bad ... i think they make great chinas , but you cant expect more for your 50 dollars than a 50 dollar cymbal ....

It was a customer review. They're handhammered so I know I probably won't get another one like that. I already got lucky with my china. And based on NIM's vid the 16" isn't too bad, a little more washier than I would have liked, but then again he really didn't give it a break once he started demoing the cymbal. I might have to consider this as well... Maybe even take a step forward and get the hats too, I don't like the sound of my Paistes. Hell i'll just sell both my paistes to my uncle and have my whole set be wuhan. Probably not going to happen though...

I didnt say i was going to, sheesh... Personally though I REALLY don't like the sound of my hats, they sound different than other alpha SE's i've played. They're washy. Maybe it's just my ears but... I've even been using my camber hats... Which I don't like either, they're brass... I just have no luck with hi-hats. I do like the sound of the 20" ride though. Gotta get me one of those.

    Hello,

I have tried the Wuhan crashes. I am not impressed. I wouldn't use them myself. But then, my favorites are pretty much Paiste Signatures so I am pretty spoiled.

The good news is that drum and cymbal quality continues to be had for less dollars. Impressive. If that's your sound, go for it!

I checked out some of the other Wuhan stuff at GC a couple months back, and didn't really dig them. I love their Chinas and splashes, but they are not what I would want for much else.

I guess it'll all come down to, what has more value for my money. Tight race between these and the Sabian SR2's. Being that these are cheaper i'll probably get these and when I have the money upgrade again. To RUDES.

jordison, you'll really have to hear the Wuhan cymbals to make a decision. All the Wuhan cymbals have a hint of the China in them, to my ear, so it's nothing like an A Custom sound. You would have to hear the cymbal personally to decide if it sounds "right" to you.

I would never buy a Wuhan without playing it first. There's just way too wide of a variety in sounds from those things. When I bought my china, I think I played about six different ones in the store and none of them sounded like each other.

+1. And I would never buy an entire prepack of cymbals either, let alone wuhans. There is too big of a chance that they do not sound pleasing, as some wuhans do not sound good. Others sound fantastic, they are really a hit or miss cymbal.
