Did a few lessons here and there, but the best one was this afternoon, went around to one of my older girls and introduced her to brushes, she absolutely got into it!
Hooked up my MP3 player to the stereo and a Y connector to my headphones, I jammed out on some Blues tunes with the Texas Shuffle pattern...always loved the drive you get from that pattern but been a while since I really did much of it so I got re-acquainted.
One of you more talented guys should make a teaching vid on the various types of Shuffles.

not today but a couple of days ago I drove from Townsville Qld Australia down to Gold Coast Qld south east.... 18 hours in one go, shared the driving with a work mate.... finger taped the steering wheel and air drummed to the CD player for hours on end....
Stopped at the music store on the way home and picked up a bongo stand I ordered and got a can of moon gel while I was there.
Then came home and played the drums for an hour and a half.

Getting together with a "benefit band" tonight! (they want to play for a benefit in Feb. and we all need to practice some covers!) ...Another "power trio" as they say. Yea! My other band can't hang onto a bass player so these guys will have to do!

Nothing today, but I ordered an Audix D6, XLR cable, and a mini-boom stand last night. Now I suppose that I'll have to get a mixer or an interface with more ins.
Mmm... Saturns.
3 hours of practicing last night. Worked on some linear stuff and expanding on a groove I developed last year.
Feels good! Took some of the stress away.
I retuned my snare (again). It's my DW Collectors series 6.5 x 14 stainless steel model. Love it! I'm still using the original snare side head (3-4 months?) and an Ambassador X for a batter. Tuned to a G on the snare side and a C on the batter...so good! Then spent a good 1/2 or so practicing.
IMO, a day without drums is like a day without sunshine!

I sat down for about 15 minutes on a Roland electronic kit, the good one. I sounded like a superstar. These things sure make it easy, you don't need technique to pull the tone out of the drum and everything just seemed easy. it is almost like cheating, I don't think I can ever trust what I hear on the radio anymore.

Tried practicing drums today. I just gave up after 45 minutes because I got too frustrated and threw my drumsticks across the room.

Gave the djembe a bit of a hit earlier this morning.
Cleaned the ol' Acrolite a couple of days ago, tightened all the nuts, and lubed the snare throw. Today I spent 2 hours in practice with my band. At the end of the practice, my superior said that she hadn't gotten anyone to lead singing of Christmas carols for our annual Christmas party. Guess who's bringing a guitar to the Christmas party?

i played a few tracks from The Who
Put Evans clear G2's on my set. Had a nice tuning with them over Diplomats until I turned the snares on. Worst snare buzz I ever had.
Tried them with Aquarian and Evans resos. No matter which way I went with them, couldn't get rid of the snare buzz. Wound up just flattening the sound out, and they sound lousy.
I wanted to open the sound a little, but no luck. Now they sound like dead heads.
Today, I played around with different tunings on my Pearl Free Floating Maple shell snare and my Yamaha Power V Special concert deep toms and then practiced for about an hour...then went to a gig , unloaded, set up - played 2 hours, packed it all up in the van and the wife drove while I rested.

I guess Im just playing with such a low volume band that Im never bothered by snare buzz caused by vocals or the bass man etc...and my toms never cause sympathetic vibrations either...maybe its the way I tune my toms and snare ?
I played a gig last night...bringing the kit back in after while...( 4 piece kit ) been practicing on my 5 piece kit and tomorrow playing my 6 piece kit at my regular thurs nite sit down gig and then packing it up for an audition coming up sunday with a rock & blues band thats been working some of the local Indial Casino's for real good money...
Wish me luck on grabbing this gig...it could make me a Lot of coins and be loads of fun as well.

I don't like to mess with my snare when I have it the way I want it.
Usually, I can tune the toms for minimum snare buzz, but no matter which way I go with the Evans, up, down, changed the resos twice, the buzz is a little too much. I'll work with it later.
I never had a problem with a bass guitar causing a lot of buzz.

With all the new heads that these companies are coming out with and switching from Big Band & Western swing to traditional county to top 40 country - red dirt country & classic rock and then blues...Im exploring different tunings and head choices. Snare buzz years ago used to be a problem for me but after I picked up that old drum dial I discovered that I could eliminate my snare buzz problems by tuning not only the snare but the toms and still get a sweet tone out of both and move the tuning from low to medium to high and still have the snare buzz gone. Now, maybe it has something to do with the particular drums Im playing , the rooms Im working in, the bands Im playing with and the drum heads I play...not really sure if its just one or a combination of all of the above.

I have a Evans drum dial. I took the readings of what I had on the set and started from there with the G2's. I didn't touch the resos which are Diplomats.
When I brought the G2's up to that tuning and put the snare back in place, I hit the mounted tom and it sounded like I was hitting the snare drum. I messed with the Dips for a while, a little tighter, a little looser, no luck. Changed resos twice, again, no luck.
I have put 4 different sets of heads on my set in the last year or so, and never had a problem like this. I'm going downstairs now to work with them again. See what happens.
I don't have a lot of problems with snare buzz. It's there, but I'd call it minimal. That was/is using coated G1 and G2 batters and now Black Chromes. With clear G1 reso.
