Default Sonor force 507 vs. Ludwig Accent?

My friend is looking into getting a new kit. He's newer to drumming, only playing for a month. He needs something that will get the job done, sounds okay-ish, and doesn't break his budget (400-500$)
I have picked these two out for him. I want your feedback though.
Any other ideas? Or which one do you think he should pick?

It is for everything. Hardware, stands, shells, throne, etc. But no cymbals

The sonor comes with a single bass pedal, but the ludwig doesnt

I'm going to say get the Sonor. You can never go wrong with Sonor.
So itchie, how did the kick sound?

I would probably say go with Sonor as well, but I have no experience with Ludwig. By the item codes you gave, the Sonor appears to have a smaller bass drum... just wanted to point that out in case you weren't aware.

Keep us posted of the decision!!

Sonor is good, but you cant go wrong with Ludwig either.Where it is a question of money,no matter what the kit,all brands have entry level kits which are cheaper than the more expensive and better built high end kits.Im am a little biased because I am a Ludwig owner, but if he can get a bass pedal too, maybe the Sonor would be the better pick,if they are the same price.By saving money from not having to buy a pedal,he could then invest in some cymbals and be a little further ahead on equipment. To me the smaller bass drum is not a big deal.If he gets into drums for good,(and I hope he is really interested because he is buying a kit),he will eventually probably ditch it all for a higher grade kit down the road.

I hope someone with hardware expertise will chime in and be more exact on the Sonor end of this.I think Pearl has a starter kit for about $500,but again,it would be better to talk to someone with hardware expertise that is unbiased and not a Pearl or Sonor or Ludwig owner. Some people think their brand is the only kit to buy.Although I love my Ludwigs and have owned them for 31 years without any problems,(and they are high end),I have to admit, there are some sweet brands out there now as opposed to when I bought mine in 1980.Good luck,I hope I have helped a little.
