Hello, my names Joe and I'm from Naples, FL. I am 50 something and starting drumming 2 years ago with a Roland TD9. I just purchase a Yamaha Stage Custom kit 2 months ago. I have been lurking around here for quite some time and learning a lot. Never would have guessed I would have taken up drums this late in life but it has become a passion and a great way to enjoy a few hours and release the stress of the day. Still not very good but I have seen a steady improvement.
I look forward to getting to know you.
Thanks for a fantastic site!

Welcome to Drum Chat Joe!
I did the same thing that you have done - didn't scratch that drumming itch until late in life (I started at the young age of 52). When you are doing something that you enjoy, there is no time that is too late.
BTW, you will find that Drum Chat is a great place to chat with other drummers, and to ask questions. We have a mix from veteran drummers to newbie, and everyone is treated as a brother/sister drummer.
Again, welcome!

Male or Female? Male
What type of Drums do you play? PREMIER "SIGNIA"
Who is your Favorite Drummer? Ringo inspired me as a boy but Keith Moon is by far my favorite drummer. Mitch Mitchell would be another drummer I like. But Keith Moon is my number 1 drummer of all time.
Are you in a band? I"m not currently in a band but often get together with friends and play just for fun. I would like to get into another band down the road once I recover from a recent spinal surgery I had to my neck.
Do you see dead people? Yes, I seek out Keith Moon for advice from time to time. Still hard to admit he is dead and that I'm talking to him.
How did you find Drum Chat? I found it while doing research on building a Bubinga Stave Drum this past spring.
My Finished Stave drum.

Favourite Drummer: Danny Carey, Mike Mangini, Jordan Burns, Jord Samolesky
I am currently in three bands:

Very good fun don't have enough spare time coz i'm always practicing or playing but i guess that's what it's all about right!?
I found Drum Chat from a link provided by someone at VDrums.com of which I am a member (also froidy1981)
Cheers guys
Look forward to speaking with you soon and providing some input and advice
Leigh
Hey Leigh welcome. 30 is not so bad. I was given my first snare when I was 7years old. I am (58 - 30) = 28 years into the better side of 30 and 51 years beyond my first snare drum. Time and and age are what you do with it. Enjoy your life and your drums. Everytime you pick up a stick and play you will be a better drummer. So while you may be older at 30 your skills as a drummer will be much better. Thats a good thing.

Actually it doesn't worry me too much because life is too short to worry about things you have no control over and age is one of them!
Becoming a better drummer.....well.......
