I haven't personally broken any cymbals since my teenage years. But back then I think I kept a few of them around and used as effects/accent cymbals. Most didn't last long though before they were completely trashed.
All i have broken is my old cra**y 'meridian' crash, made of paper thin brass.
So how many have you broken? And what did you do with them? Stack them, keep using them...?
If you repaired them, what did you find the most effective method to be?

I haven't ever broken a cymbal. I did have an old splash that was used for frisbee, and it got some funny dents and bends, but didn't break.

I would be devastated if i broke one of my cymbals. I would get real choked. There might even be tears.

Yes, but two were used, (Which I don't trust) and it was all before I learned a little something called technique. If you hit yours at an angle, you'll be all good.
I won't lie, if I hadn't had the warranty, I would have cried with sadness. But the only tears I cried were tears of relief.

I broke the first crash I ever got, a Sabian B8 14". Haven't broken any since then though.

None in 34 years, other than the one cymbal someone stepped on while knocking down after a show. But I didn't break it, they did!!!! And for the record I didn't put it on the floor someone who was helping knock down did.

I used Paiste 2002 hats, crash, ride for 25 years. In the last 12 years I have owned a full set of Paiste Signatures, Paiste Traditionals, Zildjian K Customs, and Paiste 2002s. Also there were a few others thrown into the mix. In all..... I have probably personally owned and played between 35 and 40 high end cymbals over the last 32 years.
None were broken.
I havent broken a cymbal in over 20yrs. Once my parents stopped paying for my gear I learned to play properly really quick.
My old meridian crash got turned into a target my dad and i shot at it quite a bit.
"respect for drum gear!" i hear you cry... but this thing was AWFUL. :P

I've never broken a cymbal. I've put some dents in those cheapo brass ones, but thats the closest i've come.

16" ZBT Crash -TONS of spidering cracks
16" ZHT Titanium Crash - one big crack
14" ZHT Titanium Hats - One really small crack. Still playing on them
and an OLD 17" Zildjian Medium Thin Crash (I picked this up used, so it was already pretty beat up.)
I think a lot of the damage had to do with poor care when transporting them. My cymbal bag was dropped a couple times by bass players or guitar players running in and out of gigs. No one else carries my cymbals anymore.
With my two cracked crashes, I just stacked them. Now I have a fairly decent sounding stacker :P

Two 12" china cymbals and my first pair of high hats (Zildjian Planet Z's) had some pretty nice cracks around the diameter.
