The hardware should be fine, but if your a hard hitter your Pearl "cymbals" don't stand a chance.
My new kit arrived, but they 'accidentally' mislabelled my kit and sold it to someone else. So instead of receiving the Mapex Horizon HX, I have received the Mapex Horizon HZB Lacquer - A six piece standard rock kit with an free 10"x8" tom.
I did read up on the HX and read several reviews about it, I have been told by a few people that the HZB is without a doubt a step up in quality of manufacture but can't for the life in me find a review on it.
I also received a set of Pearl CX-200 cymbals, which I was assured we're a step up from the Mapex 'disks' but can't find a reliable rating or review on it.
Also, I'm a very heavy hitter and I'm wondering if the Mapex 500 series hardware will stand up to my hits?
Anyone with any of this equipment care to take a few minutes to write a few words?
Thanks.

Yeah already been warned about them being bin food rather quickly.. Not bothered though, already got £400-ish for more.
Congrats on the new kit! And i agree about the Pearl cymbals not lasting.

I go to my local drum shop and purchase my sticks. I like to touch them before I buy them ;-)

Yea, those cymbals won't last too long if you're a hard hitter. I wouldn't throw them out though. Keep them in decent condition so you have something:
A) As backup if you're ever in a pinch and one of your main cymbals is unusable
B) If you ever decide to sell the kit, so you can sell those with it and keep your pro gear
C) If you ever meet a young beginner who needs cymbals and feel like being Santa Claus for 5 minutes
Just some thoughts. Congrats on the new kit. Can't wait to see pics once you get it

Congrats on the new kit. Don't know what you played before, but, you should be very happy with Mapex.
Congrats and I agree get rid of the Pearl cymbals. Hard hitters use ZBT,B8 and other all brass cymbals.
ZBT and B8 arent all brass. They are B8 compound. Same as a B20 cymbal but with less tin.
Congrats on the new kit, I cant offer any advice on it but agree to upgrade the cymbals when you get a chance.

I'll apologise now for the rubbish pictures, taken on a camera phone with flash and my focus is broken so all my pictures look awful.
And there is no excuse for the extremely awful set up *hangs head in shame* all I can say is it was a Sunday morning at about 7 and I felt like my bed was beckoning to me, telling me to get back in
