Well good on him if he gets it.

IMO Bobby Jarzombek would be a better choice but Mangini is good too. :P

Would be a good replacement for Portnoy.

I go to my local drum shop and purchase my sticks. I like to touch them before I buy them ;-)

I centainly hope not. I love Mike Mangini's drumskills, but I can't stand Dream Theater. It'd be cool for him though, but I don't think it's entirely his cup of tea.
Whats wrong with dt Casb?
Well, obviously the guys from DT can play. But the music they make is (IMO) tame, clinical and therefore boring. I just can't understand why you would make music to show off your skill, instead of blowing everybody's mind with a massive sound, that gets you hyped.
But it might just be me, because I can't relate to symphonic rock/metal.
its all preference is guess.. :P
I know alot of you might think I'm crazy but I'm not too crazy about Dream Theatre music. The players are excellent at thier instruments but the song writing is just kind of boring to me. I mean I appreciate what they do.
Actually a band I was in got to open for them when their tour came to town. I didn't even stay. I wish I would've looking back but whatever. Saw Mike Mangini with Extreme once and he tore it up! It would be intresting to hear him in a Dream Theatre mix. Kinda thought the drum mix on the Waiting for the Punchline album could've been better.
