If you younger drummers haven't checked out some of the Mahavishnu Orchestra stuff, you should. There's some amazing drumming, not to mention songs, on those albums!

Brief Summary: Panamanian by birth, raised in New York City, Billy Cobham is regarded as fusion’s greatest drummer who has recorded with many jazz greats such as Miles Davis. In 1971 Cobham, along with guitarist John McLaughlin, Jan Hammer, Jerry Goldman and Rick Laird formed the Mahavishnu Orchestra and recorded a total of three albums.
Other Facts: As master drummer, percussionist, composer, producer, educator and clinician, Cobham has called Switzerland home for more than 25 years.

Exactly!! My favorite is The Inner Mounting Flame. Just totally brilliant!
Funny you mention this band. I am in the last of my religion class and our team wrote on Hinduism. We spoke of Vishnu and Gods like Shiva. Well, as i did my writing, I had to put on the Inner Mounting Flame.
