    Drummer: Don Brewer
    Drumming Style: Rock & Roll
    Band: Grand Funk Railroad
Brief Description: Don Brewer was drummer and founding member of Grand Funk Railroad. He joined his first band the Red Devils when he was 12 years old. Aside from playing drums with Grand Funk, Brewer also sang lead vocals on many of their songs. He wrote and sung the bands first #1 hit, "We're an American Band".

Other Fun Facts: Grand Funk Railroad is Homer Simpson's favorite band. In the "Homerpalooza" episode he makes the comment to Bart and Lisa, "You kids don't know Grand Funk? The wild shirtless lyrics of Mark Farner? The bong-rattling bass of Mel Schacher? The competent drumwork of Don Brewer? Oh, man!"

Oh yeah! Grand Funk Railroad was one of my favorite band, man for a trio they sure rocked. I had two albums 'Closer to Home' and 'Survival' that I use to play over and over when I was exhausted just to relax. Great band.

Wow Phroggey, you met met him when he was that young? Man, you've got some of the best stories on DC, I swear! I've only recently starting to appreciate Grand Funk myself, so I've a lot to learn, still.

Grand funk railroad was a great band. If you are a drummer you should really listen to all the grand funk music. Don Brewers drumming was right on the money. He had a solid rock style with kinda slight funk vibe. For me the 2 rock groups that both the music and drumming stood out was Zeplain and grand funk. If you could pickup a sense of there drum feel and apply it to your drumming, you could pretty much play any rock music.

Don Brewer was one of my early big influences. I learned the solo from T.N.U.C. note for note back in the day.

Grand Funk Railroad Live Album is a classic.

Yep, and back then if you could play the intro using only single kick you were the man.

Yeah, me too. I see a lot of guys in cover bands using a double pedal to do it now.

Great drummer and great band.. A buddy of mine says that Mark Farner came up with the intro to American Band but I dont know if it's true, I could never find any info on it.

I tried to play that intro with single pedal but cannot get it up to speed. I need to revisit that though.
