    Well, the kit's finally complete!

Guess what kind of snare I got. No really, take a guess.

If you guessed a Slingerland, you are correct. Bet you didn't see that coming, did ya? :D

Excuse the busted phone. The snare was cleaned before it was shipped.

It came with heads; a Remo Coated Amb on the batter side, and a clear Remo reso (It did come with a Diplomat reso on it, but I didn't like the Diplomat much). I can't read the exact head name of the current reso as there is none to read! :/ It was in there just in case I didn't like the reso. Good thinking, eBay seller.

I tuned it up, and it sounds like a mix of Joey's snare from the Disasterpieces DVD and the (sic)nesses DVD snare (which is triggered). Yes, I intended on tuning it this way. Now that I have a fully functional snare drum, it's a bit easier, don't you think? :D There's an internal muffling piece on the inside of the snare which I do not use (loosened all the way), which is how I got the attack of the Disasterpieces snare, and the (aftersound? Only way I could describe it; you'll know it when you hear it) of the (sic)nesses snare.

The kick sounds like a MONSTER now that it's got an adequate number of tension rods. Here's the closest recorded sound-

-I went against my usual kick tuning standards and went with a low reso and batter, and got this sound. It's wonderful. Can't wait to hear it recorded with my band.

    Here's a finished picture:

That was taken before the Slingerland got here.

Well, there's my kit. I am thoroughly enjoying it. Next up on the list: some Speed Cobras. And new batter heads for my toms. But the stocks have been holding up pretty well, so I suppose those can wait a week or so. I reused the bass drum heads from my old set as those are still in great condition, so I don't need to spend $40 on a new one, which is a relief for me.

Overall, for the $70 my dad paid for the incomplete kit (and the $50 on tension rods... and the $40 on the snare) it still cost less than anything used and most likely sounds better too. I am very happy with my kit as it stands right now, and luckily I waited to get the right things for my kit instead of rushing into something I didn't want to rush into in the first place (well, I kinda did, but I couldn't, you know?). Whichever way you put it, this $160, month long investment turned out better than something you could get for $400 right away, which makes me even happier that I waited for everything to come full circle (well, I still have to get Speed Cobras, new heads, and a replacement 18" crash (eventually) for it to really come full circle).

    Also-
Sorry I held out giving you more pictures but I wanted to wait until my kit was finished.

    -Jordison

EDIT: Excuse the Styrofoam in that last picture.
So itchie, how did the kick sound?

Going to post a youtube video (audio only, 1 guitar hero mic, and it's just me messing around for a half hour) in a little. There's some Slipknot stuff off the top of my head thrown in there, as well as some groove I came up with at the beginning. The audio doesn't do the bass much justice, but you can hear the snare pretty well, but again, the audio doesn't do it too much justice. I messed up a few times, so at the times I pause, I'm probably cursing under my breath haha. I'll leave out EQing and doing all the fancy studio stuff so you can hear the true sound of the drums through the one mic (The reason that I only used one was that I couldn't find the one I usually put by the kick). So, hopefully you'll, uh, enjoy (threw that word out there haha) me messing around on the kit in a little bit.
So itchie, how did the kick sound?
