If you could take a drummer from one band and put him/her in another band to make it better or more interesting....who would it be?

I had the idea the other day when I read about Les Claypool auditioning for Metallica after Cliff Burton died and they were looking for a replacement.
I'm not sure if he was totally serious (he's been mates with them for a while I think), but could you imagine the outcome?

I'll start with taking Nick Menza (Megadeth) and putting him in Metallica.
I have nothing against Lars, but I think Nick would've taken them to a whole new level.

    Anyone else have these thoughts?

I had similar thoughts when Matt Cameron briefly did studio work for the Smashing Pumpkins. I respect Matt Walker, Chamberlin's initial replacement, and consider Chamberlin to be perhaps my most prominent influence.

When I listed to "For Martha" on Adore I thought it was one of the most tasteful, elegant rock parts I had ever heard.

From a chops standpoint, I think Chamberlin trounces Cameron. I've been fortunate to see both live, Chamberlin four times. Cameron is more groove, with an occassional odd-time punch. His flourishes are far fewer, but their placement is, again, in my opinion, tasteful. I would have liked to see Cameron on all of Adore.

A simple, elegant design is good engineering.

first thought, Put Bonham in for AC/DC's drummer. Will need to change the name of the band, though. I like it.
Most definitely. As a matter of fact, there will be "NO LIMIT"... just an unending quagmire of musical genius.

Well, if Les Claypool did end up in Metallica......wonder what they would have made of Tim "Herb" Alexander coming in as a swap for Lars? That'd be a trip and a half.

I wonder what would have happened if say you stuck....ooo, I dunno, maybe Jojo Mayer in with The Beatles? Or Bill Bruford in with The Rolling Stones?

I know Drumble. It spun me out thinking how Metallica would sound like with such a different approach on bass. I don't think it would work.
It'd be like putting Dave Ellefson in The Monkeys or something. Trippy non the less.

Yeah something like that would be good...maybe some Jazz player thrown into a death metal band as it would be interesting to hear what they could come up with.

Metallica with out Lars. I don't think it would work. I personally think that he works well with Metallica. Sure, he isn't the most technical, or the fastest, but he works perfectly. And come one, he has created some awesome parts on the kit.

Also, if it were not for him, Metallica would not exist.

I know Kenny Aronoff sat in with the Smashing Pumpkins for a while. And he is Mr Versatility, and a great, great drummer. But what if say he was in....ooo....I dunno....Rammstein?

I heard Carmine Appice toured with the Spice Girls when they did a reunion. Am wondering, would they have called him "Appice Spice"?

Don't believe a word of that for a minute folks, relax....

LOL Kenny kinda looks like Uncle Fester from the Munsters in that setting! Ha ha.

On another note: Being from Indiana, a close friend of mine sat next to Kenny on an airplane flying back to Indy from Vegas. He said he was a really nice guy.

I think James Hetfield is suitable impressed, although can't say they'd be doing a thrash cover of "Yellow Submarine' with Ringo singing lead too soon, lol.

    Or how about "Enter Taxman?"
