some guys are like hit machines... he seems to be one of em. Funny how so many ex drummers are sucessful fronting bands.

I like all his stuff and the FF videos are pretty good. Hero and the one where he's the stewardess on the airplane lol.

One question to anyone I was in the music store last night looking at sticks and these Zildjian? signature sticks looked like they said Dave Grohl on them. The print was in red with a tribal design around the stick. I didn't have my readers with me. Anyway they felt pretty good in hand. Very beefy short taper I think oval tip.

    Anybody use them?

I didn't know Dave plays a Gretsch USA Custom kit. Here he is at the 2013 Grammy's with Paul:

I think that was probably Taylor Hawkins' kit, because Dave is a DW endorser now. Here's the beautiful kit Hawkins used with Coattail Riders:

Something tells me that kit isn't set up too well, Russ.

Looks like somewhat rough storage at a small to medium sized club. Looking at the size of the area, it makes me wonder how you could get a huge kit in spaces like that, and then get it set up on stage in a reasonable amount of time. Pictures like that really put things in perspective.

Wrong assumption Russ. According to this recent interview with Dave's drum tech of 7 years, the red '80s Gretsch USA Custom kit pictured with Paul at the 2013 Grammy's is not Taylor's kit. Dave apparently has several non-DW kits he loves to play:

DW lets him play those while he's on their roster? I thought there were rules against that?

I don't think Dave has followed many rules. I would put Foo Fighters as the main band in the listing. That band has been around alot longer then Nirvana. I'm like alot here, not a fan of Nirvana , but I do like the FF

I tried reading about everything he's done.. Exhausting! I had no idea he's worked with so many people, and accomplished all this while dropping out of high school to boot.

    Bump!

How can anyone not like this guy?

If you watch Back and Forth. It's really a story of a humble drummer that grew up on hard core punk rock. Was in the biggest band in the world, suffered tremendous tragedy, only to come back and eventually become the biggest rock band in the world again.

At the time Nirvana became the biggest band in the world, The number 1 hit of 1990 was Wilson Phillips, Hold On!!!!! Then Nirvana exploded shortly after. Then not long after that Cobain killed himself!

He was utterly devistated for quite some time and didn't even listen to music let alone pic up an instrument.

Then one day he got his passion for music back. The whole First Foo Fighters record was all Dave! He played every instrument. And passed it around as a Demo when he didn't even have a band.

It was finally picked up and he got help from his friends, the rhythm section from Sunny Day Real Estate to put together a band and take the album on the road. The bass player is still with him to this day.

    It's really an amazing story.

I suggest you guys watch his Key Note Speaker address at SXSW musical festival this past year. It is amazing! I real inspiration.....

I consider Dave Grohl to be a modern day renaissance man. It's not just limited to his musical ability, either.
