i know it's made of maple too, the wood looks really light in colour like birch, i always thought it was darker.

I checked it out and it is 7 ply maple with a lacquer finish. I saw one for 399 Euros not sure how much that is in British pound and it was in the U.K at freescore.com. so I guess you got a good deal. Hope this helps you.

For a while, they really didn't have crazy names for their snares. They were basically named by their size and material for some time, ie 14x6 mapple or 13x5.5 birdseye, etc.

    hmmm looks like it: http://www.google.co.uk/products/cat...d=0CJUBEPMCMAM
This example doesn't have the black panther.

From the reading around I found out that most black panther's do have a names like: Phat Bob, "the blade", "the blaster"

Yours looks very similar to Phat Bob, which retailing around £300-£330

I'm sorry LH, but even though you are not selling (as you said in the next post), the Forum Rules prohibit commercial links. - PB

They started naming the BP's like a year or two ago. Before that they just had Black Panther Maple, Black Panther Cherry, etc..., and there were a ton of different models. There was also a Black Panther that came free with certain kits.

Yours definitely looks like one of the other models.

    Yours looks very nice, Mark.

I just checked mine and it doesn't have a specific name either.

    Mine is 10 years old.

Do the Blaster and Velvetone designations only apply to the kits? Nice find.
