Welcome to Drum Chat 14shukill!
I like the setup, with the possible exception of where it makes the hi-hat go, but then I've never tried it there, so that's just a visual observation. Are the toms 8, 10, 12, 13 & 16, or is the FT a 14"?

Nice kit, but i would be very uncomfortable in the hi hat situation
Welcome to drumchat shukill! Great looking kit you have there, you might be able to draw the hats in closer if put the far left tom slightly in front of the second furthest left tom, angled a bit like Neil Peart does. Awesome cymbals and an awesome kit i'm sure. What are the specs of it? Series/sizes/brand?

14shukill,
Cool looking set. Nice array of Zildjians A Customs there. Welcome to drumchat! I hope you find it to your liking.
(Don'tcha just love when people try to tell you that your kit set up is wrong and immediately start telling you how it could be done better?) UGH! Jeesh guys, wait until at least the second post so as not to scare him/her off.

Whoa! 4 up? Don't see that too often these days - nice setup. what kind of drums are these?
Nice cymbals. What kind of drums do we have here? As others have said, your hi hat placement looks very uncomfortable to me. In fact, you could be hurting your knee's with your two pedal's being at 90 degrees to each other. Maybe raise your small tom and place it at an angle towards you and put your hats in that spot. Raise and angle your second smallest tom a bit as well, and do a cascading tom motif like Russ said, emulating Neil Peart. That's the set-up I have, 4-up, 2 down, and it is very comfortable. We don't mean to criticize anyone's set-up. But most of us have seen enough set-ups to know what works and what has a potential to create problems physically down the road. Welcome aboard and please take all these comments as constructive criticism rather than slamming your set-up. That's just the way we are. Cheers.

the high hat actually felt okay there! (this is an older picture it is actually a little different now.) the kind of music i play doesn't involve a ton of high hat footwork so i was able to cope.

I'm sorry if I came off jerkish in my first post suggesting that you change something right off the bat. It's great the way you have it actually. It's just if you ever found yourself wanting a change, I thought I would throw that out there and you'd have some ideas for later. But really, it looks awesome the way it is!

Welcome to Drum Chat bricenoack.
Unless, of course, it works for him, in which case it's really "to each their own." There is no real right or wrong in setting up a kit (assuming everything is right side up), if it's comfortable to the one playing, and allows freedom of movement. Just check out the "Show Us Your Drums" thread and you'll see just how different things can be.

If you want to move the hi-hat (and I'd assume closer to your db bass drum left pedal) for the moment just remove the 8" tom. See how that feels.
If you approve you could always shift your drums over one position to your right which could conceivably give you a 2nd floor tom. Bonus!
