Hi guy's. Looking for some advice about a new snare. I'm looking for a nice Brass snare 6.5 x 14. I want a deeper fat sound. Would a Maple snare in that size be better? or would the Brass snare do? I've looked at Ludwig Black Magic, Tama SLP, DW, etc. Any suggestions? Thanks.

IMO, the Black Magic is a great snare...for the money, it's hard to beat

Maple is warm like brass is, but has woody overtones instead of metallic ones. Both are good choices, but if you're set on metallic shell instead of wood - the Black Beauty or Acrolites are fine choices.
