The dark cherry burst gets my vote.
I'm on the hunt for a Gretsch Catalina Maple, The finish I'm not 100% sure which I want. There are many. (ill post a few on bottom)
My reason for this post is, I'm having trouble finding them (6 piece set-up, 2up 2 down) for a decent price.
When looking NEW, I see some for 800, some 900, some 950.
I was hoping you guys (with your amazing hunting skills that I've seen before) can lead me to some good prices you may see. (from some of the finished i provide.)
I kind of want to buy NEW (even though people say, BUY USED) Because its going to be my kit for a long time, and i want it to be fresh out of the manufacturer's hands and into mine :P
Mocha Fade
Dark Cherry Burst
Tobacco Fade
Which seems most appealing? I originally wanted Mocha, but now im not 100%, all are kind of nice :P
Opinions? Hunt results? Thanks guys!

The dark cherry burst gets my vote.
From what's there I'm stuck between the Mocha Fade and the Dark Cherry Burst - probably leaning a bit more toward the Mocha Fade, but then again that might be because my Pearl SMX is in Vintage Fade, and they look similar.
Your = possessive - your stuff, your dog, your car, etc
You're = you are - a contraction.
Learn it. Love it.
I'm with trick on this one... between the moca and cherry... tobacco is bad for you anyway... you already have a drum addiction...might as well not add another
If I had to choose RIGHT NOW, I would go for the cherry... I have seen that kit at a shop... BEAUTIFUL. But I am sure the moca is just as stunning.

i like the Tobacco Fade. As far as a lead on good pricing can't really say one place or another. I'd just search em all and take notes of the places you like.

I'd get the second one, but that's just a personal preference. Cherry burst also looks awesome on the Renown. *hint*

Throwin out a vote for the Cherry.
Proudly playing:
Doc Sweeney Drums
A bunch of snares
A bunch of cymbals
Off-Set double pedals
I think I love to play the drums simply because you get to hit 'em!!!
I like the Mocha Fade finish the best. The cherry is nice, but I much prefer when the inside of the bass drum hoop matches (as best as possible) the outer finish.

Peavey Radial Pro RBS-1
Roland TDW-20

Sabian AA/AAX/HHX/Vault
Tama pedals
Also consider the amber color, it meshes well with cymbals.

i have the dark cherry burst snare and its gorgeous
I like the first of second one.
As for your price. A 5pce catalina maple goes for like $700-$800, so $800 -$950 sounds right for a 6 piece.
Too Much Stuff.
Well, thanks guys. I kind of ruled out the tobacco. However, I too am stuck between Mocha and Cherry! AHHHHH!!!
Also, my original question: Can anyone help find good prices? Because I've seen multiple sites with the SAME EXTACT kit on each, for different prices. D: HELP FIND CHEAPEST!

That's one of those GOOD hard decisions to have to make
Google and a phone... to get the absolute best price you will have to do some legwork and call around and talk to different shops that carry these kits. Also, anything that is advertised on the web, if they are an official Gretsch dealer, the big names (GC & MF) will at least price match if not beat.
Good luck and remember to post pics of YOUR kit when you get it

I'd go for the Dark Cherry too.
Dark Cherry! And like others have mentioned, the price points you mentioned for the 6 piece are right on. As far as where to look, keep an eye out on ebay and craigslist. Yeah, I know, these places have their negative points but there can be some great deals. Be patient and keep looking hard. The right kit at the right price will come along. Go to a few local drum shops and see if they will match prices on the net. Many will or at least they can come close. I know the shop I patronize will, and does, work with me on prices I find on the net. They want mine, and others', business and I like to keep business local. So it is a win win for both of us.

I could flip a coin on either the Mocha or Cherry and be satisfied with whatever the coin chose.
Mapex Saturn, Cherry Sparkle, 6 piece Studioese
Black Panther Cherry/Maple
Sabian AA cymbals
My vote would be the cherry.

Frazzetto, when you check out an internet site and find yourself confused by their pricing, pick up the phone and ask for some help understanding the different prices. Also, as has already been stated, if you see it for a good price somewhere, keep that price in mind as you look for the color you want. Make the companies work a little for your business. but keep in mind that they can't give it away.
I once was making a decision between 2 kits, and I just couldn't decide which kit was the best deal. It was driving me crazy - and frankly, it was driving the people around here a little crazy too, I'm sure. In the end, the store was temporarily out of stock so I went with the kit that had in stock. It was my Gretsch Catalina Maple kit, and I have been extremely happy with my kit ever since. What I'm saying is that you should do your homeowrk on the kit you want, and get the best price you can, but in the end you'll have a kit you can play, and that's where the greatest joy will be had.
BTW, I'd be all over that Mocha Fade.

The cherry seems to show off the grain the best from the looks of these pictures. However the top and bottom ones are stock photos so you can't exactly get the best idea of what they actually look like. Seeing a real life shot of that finish would look worlds different.
