DW Collectors Birch snare... anyone have one?
I can't really find a lot of info online about it. There isn't even a lot of info on forums from drummers who may have them. Is it particularly rare that people get a DW birch snares? DW is mostly known for their variations maple snares and drums ( vlt, vlx, x, standard, 10x6) Does anyone on the forum have one?
Guitar Center just got one in and it was gorgeous with a natural finish. It is a 10ply 6x13 collectors birch shell ( no re-rings) and DW issued die-cast hoops. I tried one out and loved it. It was very powerful and had a significantly higher note than the maple shell DW snares. and it was tuned mid range, but had an amazing crack and high tone/pitch but it didn't choke and it had a lot of body and meat to the tone. It also had great projection and clarity, and it was pretty sensitive too. I love DW drums and I put it on layaway instantly. It is a good snare to add to my collection of snares.
Current DW snares: 6x14 Edge 7x13 x-shell with re-rings 5.5x13 DW/Craviotto maple 5.5x14 1/2 inch Super Solid maple 5.5x14 Collectors knurled nickel 8x14 Performance 1mm steel
