The Rudiments
I just saw him the end of April in Tampa. He is one of my favorites and what a great guy too. He played, took questions and talked for about 2 hours then hung around another hour just shooting the bull and signing autographs.
He says to develop the left hand play 1/16th notes on the snare with it while playing, 1/8th notes with your right on the high hat and 1/4 notes on the bass with your right foot and open the high hat with your left with the bass or alternate. Then just start mixing up the patterns with each limb separately. I'm still on the first step.
Picked up his DVD awhile back and that is very good also.
Russ, you're right, The Face's he makes are great!

I was fortunate to live in Arlington/Fort Worth area of Texas in the early to mid 90's while Keith was studying at North Texas State. I remember seeing him playing in clubs in a cover band of North Texas State jazz musicians doing Chicago, Blood Sweat & Tears, etc. I new then that I'd hear him again down the road. I've also seen him with Steely Dan too. It was cool to see that kind of talent up close before everyone else new who he was.
Maybe if I tie a rubberband on the left handed stick to one of the snare lugs.....nahhhhh...still didn't work...lol. Amazing!
Absolutely. The rebound he gets off the drums is amazing!
I think it'd be awesome to see Will Farrell come on stage and imitate Tim Lefebvre playing bass on that last vid ^ or play cowbell or something....lol. They kinda look alike.
I've seen him in France, at the "bag show", (with also George Kollias or Romain Goulon) and it was pretty awesome ! I do remember that bass drum sound...and his awesome fat groove
I do love his drum faces...
I found out about him when he played with TOTO.
