Dave, yes it is gorgeous. Have you considered removing the mounting bracket from your tom? I took mine off of my MAPEX Meridian (I also use a snare stand) and it cleaned up the look and it seemed to have improved the sound a bit.

Shane, that is a "lifetime" kit. If that is the last kit you ever get, you will be doing just fine.

    Oh My Lord!

They look PHENOMENAL! The finish looks incredible, and they look like they boom!

I totally agree. This is the kit I have been waiting for. I told me keyboard player this was the set I would play until I retire. He reminded me that I have said that 4 times in the last 3 years

    Yup...

I have found that MOONGEL leaves a mark on most any coated head after a while. Especially if you let it sit there for a long period of time. I've found that moving it every day to a different spot helps eliminate this stain....even if it's an inch or two away.

I recommend that try rotating it around each time you sit down at the drums.

The first time the Moongel stained my snare head, I freaked. Then I realized it's no uglier than the coating coming off the center from playing. Drum heads are going to get beat up and marked up. A little blue square doesn't bother me.

I probably will take the suspension mount off eventually.

I should clarify here. I have to use rings with Fiberskyns heads because my current gig is acoustic guitar/organ/bass through Bose sticks, and I need to keep my sound on the low side and controlled if I want to play with any sort of energy. These heads certainly sound great wide open if you have an electric guitar stack beside you. I encourage everyone to at least buy one for your smallest tom and see if you don't love the sound.

    Hey all,

I got some new pictures of my (humble) kit in the studio that I thought I would share:

Its actually all part of a 10 year old Rockstar fusion kit.

Rockstar Steel Snare - 14x5.5 - Evans Power Dot over Remo Abassador
    Toms - 12x10 + 14x12 - EC2s over EC Resos
    Kick - 22x18 - EMAD2 clear over EMAD Reso

    All cymbals are Zildjian
20" ZBT Ride (about 8 years Old)
    18" A Custom Projection Crash
16" ZBT Crash (again about 8 years old)
    14" ZHT Hats

All hardware is Tama except for one or two bits. Its served me well and still sounds great even though its quite battered. The ZBT ride and crash used to sound so bright when I first got them but through years of use (and lack of cleaning) they actually sound pretty cool.

That looks great JSB! Really, the snare looks awesome! And I love the look of the room you are playing in, looks really fun

Cheers Alex, the snare drum is the one I got with the kit and still sounds great, I have always had snare envy of other drummers coz I have a serious lack of funds for a new one but I got lucky with the one with this kit.

The room is nice and big, silently air conditioned and the sound engineer is an old friend so its all lots of fun, I v'e got a full day of recording coming up soon and I can not wait.
