Thanks man (and Bob and Bongo) thats what I was going for with it. Already have 2 big kits so I tend to play "big kit style" and sometimes I just want to strip it down to a trap set so I can concentrate on playing more "in the pocket".

After doing some gigging a few months ago with my midnight fade pearl mmx w/ icon rack, I realized just how much lugging equipment around sucks. With that in mind I immediately missed having a smaller kit / kit with a bass drum that has tom mounts on it and I set the luddy up

i love your rack(not in the wrong way) and i love the fact that you play sabian cymbals
The kit's a Pearl EXR with the Prism Purple wrap.

Always nice to have my rack complimented LOL

I've used all Sabian for about 11 years now, never let me down. The only non-Sabian in my setup is my 14" Wuhan china... couldn't pass up the thing for 20 bucks!

Default Looky what I been up too !

Decided to keep with the original plan I am converting the saturn kit to electric . I sold the rack and all the toms from my TD 10 kit they will be in canada soon . I kept the module, cymbals including the FD HH controller and all the cables . I had the parts completed from an earler conversion so it only took about 2 hours to get it to this stage. I need heads for the 8" and 16 toms and i have to make a trigger for the 8" the 16 is ready. I have to change the parameters because the triggers are different that will take some time. I'll post more pictures as it comes together oh and I used the snare drum from the pro m kit cause I use the yamaha absolute snare for acouctic kits !

2slow, that's just awesome! And sad, all at the same time! Awesome that you can do that, and sad that an acoustic kit is going electric! Seriously, cool project!

i feel the same way as PB, i know i have said this before but i feel like that is a waste of a good acoustic set...especially a saturn, can't you just buy a cheap beginners set and put that on?

I really want to do the same thing with my practise kit. Are you happy with the results? What brain are you using and what triggers are those?

That is about the way I felt about this but as I thought more about it I changed my thinking. I want an electric kit to practice with so a Roland is the ticket! And I want a nice acoustic kit to play whenever so the mapex saturn will do just fine. Now lets face it the roland kits are not the best looking drums set out there and the saturn kit i have is very nice so, why not have a good looking kit that sounds as good as a roland and looks killer like the saturn. Some may think that it is a shame to convert such a nice kit well look at it this way from acouctic to electric takes me about 2 hours and to go from electric back to acoustic will take about an hour and there is absolutely nothing permanetly effected in the conversion . I have not changed the reso heads so when playing with the power off the drums sill have a nice sweet quiet tone !This set is Killer now and I would bet that anyone that played this set will Love it .
The triggers are home made , I am using a roland TD 10 module with under head triggers , mesh heads ,roland cy 14 crash (2) and a cy 15 ride the HH is the weakest link in all electric drums and I am using the 12 that came with the TD10 kit the drums trigger great they are pressure sensitive and I have a better trigger I'm going to put in the snare and it will be dual zone. And the kicker to all this is I sold all the roland parts I did not want to use and recovered a very good portion of the money back I paid for the TD 10 kit !!!
I will say if you have not heard a higher end Roland kit go check them out they are great !!
