those visions are beautiful shane
I have had fiberskyns on Yamaha Birch and Beech, Gretsch Maple and Mahogany, and now Pearl Birch/Basswood and they have sounded amazing on all of them. I have found that a middle weight resonant head sounds best (clear ambassador). The really thin 3 mil resos make them decay too quickly.
Thanks Yohin - the free 10" is on it's way, but this has been my preferred set-up for most of this year, so I'm going to stick to it.
I don't do domestic stuff like sweeping and cleaning up after myself, and I didn't have the time to Photoshop out all the dirt on the rug. .
Seriously - the purple rug looked cool with my blueberry Beech Customs, but awful with anything else. I'm getting ready to toss it and go back to flat black.

I'm learning many things about other forum member's kit's in and I wanted to share the results of some improvements in mine as researched and viewed many beautiful kits that have been posted here.
Im so envious of your Rude ride!
Today, I rearranged again and lowered the toms by removing some items to reach others more easily.
Keep the pics coming
Well - now that I've shown off my latest Luddies... Here's the rest of my tubs.

Love them... Really does seem to be the best of both worlds - lot's of stick attack and projection with the warmth and bottom end of maple. Also, the shells are slightly undersized, which seems to make seating heads and tuning easier than on any set I've ever owned.
It's really a shame you can't get Premier's in the US anymore, people are missing out.

Premier's low end and midrange stuff (Artist Maple / Artist Birch etc...) are fantastic drums for the price. I had a set of Artist Birch for a while as a gigging kit and they sounded great.
And premier's hardware is very well made. The lugs on my Gen-X kit are like little works of modern art, even the lug receivers are isolated, covered in rubber. The cymbal stands are rock solid (although VERY heavy. All in all, probably the best "modern" set I've owned.

"PLAY IT LOUD AND PLAY IT PROUD":
I generally do all my purchasing with my ears and pay little attention to brand name and / or trends. I tend to lean towards Ludwig due to the warm vintage style sound... and the Premiers are just incredible sounding. My first Premier experience was an 8x14 Premier birch 2000 series snare from the 80's that was just incredible... I've been hooked on Premier's gear ever since.

My wife who was really into drumming in high school for stage and marching band had a set of Premiers back in the early '80s that her parents bought her. She sold it to buy some home stereo gear when she moved out to go to college and she regrets that moved to this day.
Correct me if I'm wrong but were the first generation Premier drums made in England?
Premier is an English company so....
As far as I know, all the midrange and high end kits have always been made in the small Premier factory in the UK. I believe the more recent lower end stuff is made in the far east somewhere.
Keith Moon is probably the most famous Premier user. So yeah, British through and through.
What is really unfortunate is that Premier has lost their US distributorship, so Premier drums can no longer be had here. It's really a crime.

What a shame. I didn't know the availability issues did not exist here in the US. Thanks.

Hello Guys,
I know I have already posted some pics, but being an intermediate and looking at some of the beautiful kits you guys have, has inspired me to change things up a bit.
I just picked up a 14" Mapex MPX Birch snare and covered it with an Aquarian FOCUS-X coated w/ power dot. Sounds awesome and much better than the crappy 6 lugger I have been banging on.
It's now 1up / 2dn (12-14-16)
I am now referring to my kit as a TAY-PEX.... Half Taye / Half Mapex....
HA HA HA HA!!!!
As always your feedback is welcome, as I am learning everyday.
Peace, love, and Soul Train Dancers!!

Are there still Metric vs. SAE head size issues with Premiers? I remember when I was in high school, a buddy of mine had a snare and had to get special heads for it.
